Toledo, Ohio Prescott, Arkansas, Jan. 27, 1 91 (k Mr. M. L. Moore, Chairman, Armenian Relief C ommittee, Nevada C ounty. Dear Sir:— 1 want to say with reference to the noble work yon are undertaking in this county, that, if we are to believe the reports that come to us from authentic sources, there is no place in the world today where there is greater anci more urgent need of relief than among the surviving Christian people in the 1 urkish hmpire. Of course 1 cannot take the time and space to enu merate the details of the horrors we hear of. It would take a dozen books. For more than three years the Amer ican people have contributed to a fund to keep alive Ar menian, Syrian, Greek and other exiles and refugees of Western Asia. 1 here are. perhaps, four or five millions of these who will severely suffer and die this winter un less thev have help immediately. Many of them are hun dreds of miles from their homeland and helpless women and innocent children are in dire distress. The appeal comes to us as a Christian nation and as a generous people who have done our part in winning the great war. Now that it is won, we must help the helpless It is really our duty and in line with the policy of this country, as Mr. Morganthau well says: Need not creed rightK defines our held of service . If they can get through this winter, they can probably save themselves in the future. By all means Nevada County must do her part in this great relief work. 4 Sincerely yours, . _ H. B, McKENZlE.
