TWO THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND. The Firemen's Tournament and Observa tion of Decoration Day By the City. Mayor Trathen and the city council have done their part toward starting on a good way the idea of a firemen’s tourna ment. The state press has taken the mat ter up and it is apparent from what they say that many of the volunteer compa nies of the state are expecting royal en tertainment on July 4 at Idaho Springs. Over the county the Georgetown Courier, Silver Plume Standard and Georgetown Topics are saying good words for the proposed celebration, and even Central City has joined and practically says that she will enjoy herself at Idaho Springs it the tournament is given. The city council will aid in every way it can and we believe from the sentiment expressed that it will donate liberally. All the business places realize that it will bring them big business and they will do nate their part. The professional men, who would practically receive no benefit except the advertising it would give the city, are even willing to step to the front and donate something for the affair. The only thing that remains to be done is the appointment of a representative commit- I tee by the firemen, ■who will see that these subscriptions are gathered in. A I good deal will devolve upon this com mittee and the best available timber in the department is none too good for the purpose. Another matter that should receive at tention is the proper observation of Dec oration dav. The mayor has taken the matter up in time and through the press of the city has notified all lodges and so cieties, civic and military, that they will be expected to take part in the affair. There should be no feeling of petty jeal ousy. So far as the city is Concerned it respects one organization just as much as it does the other and favoritism will not not be shown. The day should be observed by the city. Nearly every other place in the state pays particular attention to the day in which tribute is paid to the defenders of the nation. Idaho Springs cannot af ford to lag behind in this matter. Eet it push to the front and let us exhibit the spirit that makes a great city. We might as well begin right now for the time is not far distant when Idaho Springs will step out of the present class and be listed with the big ones. Dashing, Roystering Petruchio. Manager Greenleaf has given evidence of his desire to please the best class of theatre-goers in this city by booking Charles B. Hanford in the scenic revival of “The Taming of the Shrew,” which will be seen at the Opera house on May 5. This play is regarded by authorities as the most amusing of Shakespeare’s comedies. There is no modern farce which can equal it in respect to genuine fun. Nearly every line in the play con ceals a laugh and every situation is a mine of merriment. As the dashing, roystering Petruchio Mr. Hanford has scored, it is stated, the most conspicuous success of his career. The role of Kath erine will be portraved by Helen Grant ly, who has already won golden opinions for her portrayal of this character, both in Great Britain anu country. In cluded in the supporting company are Marie Drofnah, Emma Hayner, William J. Shea, Irving Knight, Roland Gibson, P. A. Nannary, Harold Fiske, Paul An derson, R. O. Meech, L. W. Browning, John C. Davis and other well known Shakesperian artists. Shudders at His Past. “I recall now with horror,” says Mail Carrier Burnett Mann, of Levanna, 0., “my three years of suffering from Kid ney trouble. . I was hardly ever free from dull aches or acute pains in my back. To stoop or lift mail sacks made me groan. I felt tired, worn out, about ready to give up, when I began to use Electric Bitters, but six bottles completely cured me and made me feel like a new man.” They’re unrivaled to regulate Stomach, Diver, Kidneys and Bowels.
