Prof. McMillan, a man who has been showing throughout this district repre senting himself as the strong man, and who claims he is superior to auy man that ever lived, left Idaho Springs a sader, but wiser man McMillan can perform a few feats, none of which are astonish ing wheii the fact is taken into considera tion that with a little practice the ordi nary human being can do the same thing. He got the idea inj[o his head that he was a wrestler, and with this in view pa- t railed the streets of the city announcing *= that he would wrestle any man selected Z in a catcli-as-catch-can contest. Sid Var " ney was selected as the proper party to «= take the conceit out of the visitor, and the manner in which he did it made the * would-be professor look like thirty cents. * Varney is a good man, and any one with a little knowledge of the game has no * chance whatever with him. McMillan « to all appearances could make a better | < showing were he to devote his time to * hard work. Where he gets his title of < professor we have not as yet been able e to learn. * White Man Turned Yellow. Great consternation was felt by the Z friends of M. A. Hogarty of Lexington, < Ky., when they saw he was turning yel- ** low. His skin slowly changed color, also « his eyes, and he suffered terribly. His e malady was Yellow Jaundice. He was *= treated by the best doctors, but without Z benefit. Then he was advised to try Electric Bitters, the wonderful Stomach « and Liver remedy, and he writes: “After , taking two bottles I was wholly cured.” - A trial proves its matchless merit for all 4 Stomach, Liver and Kidney troubles. 3 Only 50c. Sold by J. J. Sherwin, drug- 4 gist. <j Youth Not in it. It was a race of age against youth and j fatness against slimness. The event was 4 not down on the boards, but nevertheless J the affair was most exciting. There had j been an argumeut in the morning be- j tween Mine Manager McCormick, who J by the way is as straight as an arrow, and 1 J. W. Bent, who i 9 also straight but at 4 the same time would be classed as a 4 heavy weight. The question was who *j was the fastest runner for a distance of ■5 fifty yards. The race took place on Miner street on the morning of the j Fourth. There was much speculation as 4 to who would be the winner, and when 4 the fifty yards had been stepped off by 1 the two contestants, it was found that McCormick was the winner by a nose. «j As to the amount of money bet on the i ; event is not known but it is said that the 4 stakes were high. The Best Liniment for Strains. Mr. F. H. Wells, the merchant at Deer Park, Long Island, N. Y., says : “ I al ways recommend Chamberlain’s Pain Balm as the best liniment for strains, I used it last winter for a severe lameness in the side, resulting from a strain, and was greatly pleased with the quick relief and cure it effected.” For sale byJ.J. When the fact is taken into consideration that our ca pacity is limited for the entertainment of guests all must admit that the good peo ple of the city did nobly in their work. There was very little cause for complaint from anyone who attended the celebra tion. All the various enterprises did a flourishing business and especially was this so of the Natatorium. Go to L.
