While engaged in atheletic sports last Tueadav afternoon, young Johnny Sher win fell in such a manner as to turn his ankle and the injury will lay him up for aeveral days. No bones were broken. Golden Reds have arranged for a gam of ball here tomorrow with the Maroons. The visitors have met many of the best amateursof the state, and the locals must be at their best to be able to hold them down. Francis Phillips and Miss Ells McKin ney were married St the residence of the bride's father on Fall river, Thursday morning. Judge J. A. Wi kins performed the ceremony, after which the happy couple left for a honeymoon in Middle . Park. Mrs. S. A. Noyes, Harry and Mary departed for Arvada and Denver last Wednesday afternoon and will enjoy a lower altitude for several months. Harry ha* not been at all well for some time past, and it was at the advice of a pbysi c an that the change was made. The regular base ball organization known as the Maroons went up against their first defeat last Sunday when they entered the lists against a picked nine of bovs about town. In fact, the game was too one-sided to even be of interest, ' the score standing some forty odd to a dozen. But the regulars had an of! day, and are yet ready to mix matters with a 1 comers. The firemen at their practice drill Tue sday evening were somewhat stienuous. They had just succeeded in getting water through the nozzle when it came off, with the result that they nearly drowned a baby in a passing carriage. The parents also received a portion of the moisture. A little strong language was used and for a minute it looked as though pater fam ilias was going to lick the whole depart ment. The boys had no intention !of giv. ing free baths while the natatorium is open. Frank Darrah, formerly a well known citizen of this city, and a son-in-law of J. J. Elliott, was taken to a Denver hos pital Tuesday where he is the victim of a form of insanity called paranoia. Dar rah's hallucination is that he has unlimit ed wealth, and controls a power that beats radium or liquid air. He believed that he had an unlimited hank account and waa issuing checks when the police ar rested him, but found immediately that he was insane. He is the owner of some mining property in the district, but lias lived in Denver the past seven years. The large and enthusiastic gathering of ninetceu democrats at Firemans hall la*t Saturday night, was the caucas of ihe local democracy for the selection of tS delegates to the County coevention being held at Georgetown today. The proceedings were harmonious in the ex treme. There 1a alwav* a calm before a storm. The guiding spirit had been to Denver to consult w ith the Hears! faction and it was only necessary for the dele gates to vote for themselves, go to the county convention and select only the •tried and true’ disciples to attend the state gathering.
