A meeting of the stockholders of the La Jara Creamery Co. has been calh*d for next Tuesday at 1 p. m., at the town hall, to ditcuss the projxjsed merger with the Electric Light Co. The creamery has a few hundred dollars of indebted ness that demands immediate at tent ion. The car load of hereford bulls belonging to the La Jara Land & Leasing Co., arrived this morning in charge of Frank Hynd who met i them nt Pueblo. Stendel, postmaster at Platoro, writes particulars of the death of Fred Wilker to Coroner MeCunniff. Mr. Stendel says he visited the Wilker cabin, which is alniut two miles from his own, Dec. 10, and found Mr. Wilker well ex cept for a cold and hoarseness. The mail carrier passing about 7:45 on the evening of the 13th saw smoke coming from the chimney. The morning of the 14tli, Mr. Stendel again visited the cabin and found the dead body of Mr. Wilker. partially dressed, lying across the bed. Then* were no marks on the body to indicate foul play nor tracks in the snow around the cabin. Money and other other articles were undisturbed hence it was concluded that death was due to natural causes. Others who ascribed to the opinion were Geo. | Wilker, brother of deceased, and , Win. C. Martin. Mr. Wilker was j 64 years old and was born in Ger ; many. Sloan reported to the board of trade that the San Luis Valley Beet Sugar Co. would pay as much for beets f. o. b. Durango as they paid near the factory and suggested a test of 500 acres of beets before attempting to build a factory The meeting gently turned them down and voted confidence in Darley’s plans which do not include raising binds for the Monte factory.
