The county officers will commence moving into their new quarters Monday. Services at St. Janie* church to morrow morning and evening. Also Monday afternoon at 4:80 p. m. A1 Bloomingkemper has been on trial at Grand Junction for oattle stealing and found not guilty. It looks as though spring travel had set in. The Meeker hotel regis ter was well filled with names all week. Km inert Van Cleave re-laid the hard wood floor in the I. O. O. F. lodge room last week, and made a fine job of it A Citisens convention nominated C. L. Todd for mayor, aud George E. Clarkson, Charles Durant and Clint Maxfleld for trustees. Dr. French went to Axial Wednes day to gee Mr. Thos. E. James, who was reported quite ill. A! Strehlke accompanied the doctor. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Keller and Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Craig were among the suburbanites who attended the I. O. O. F. entertainment Monday evening. Thursday spring began, so the al manac says. It looks as If the truth was told this time. Generally the loe In the river is breaking up about this time. A. B. McWilliams, the popular head bookkeeper for the Hugos com pany, was a passenger on the Incom ing stage Wednesday, after a two weeks* visit to his old home at Paolo, Kansas. Forest Ranger Byd Moylle, who has been attending to duties on Grand river points for several weeks, came in Wednesday, and will assist Super visor Blair in the Meeker office for some time. Arobdeaoon Bull of Salt Lake City came in Wednesday evening. 'The reverend gentleman held services at St. Jameß church last evening, and will also officiate there to-morrow morning and evening. The days and nights are about equal just now. This indicates that the sun is exactly over .the equator, and that the equinoctial disturbances were due. They arrived Wednesday night and no mistake about It, either. C. M. Thompson and his force of carpenters are kept on the jump these days to keep up with work in the building line. And Charley Thomp son can get away* with work as fast as any one we know of. Frederic Grimes, Harry G. Apple gate, Grand Junction, and R. A. Givens, Denver* registered at the Meeker hotel Wednesday. These gentlemen are conducting services in accordance with the Christian churcii tenets, and will oontinue for another week. The popular Jim Hayes returned to White river Monday after a four months* visit to the old home in Ver mont and various points of interst in the East. Jim’s many friends were glad to see that he was much im proved in health as a result of his vacation. J. A. McGuire, editor of Out-Door Life, the popular magazine of field and out-door life of the West, came in Monday and will take an outing under the leadership of Homer Goff. Mr. McGuire wants to add to his al ready large collection of bear,-mount ian lion and wild cat hides, and Homer will sure take him where he can get ’em. T. C. Smith, manager of the White- Bear Land A Cattle company, was in town Monday, en route to Lily Park to take charge of the company’s re cently acquired extensive holdings there. Mr. Smith’s company have holdings on White river Arid have more purchases in view. A very enjoyable entertainment was given by the Odd Fellows' lodge at tbeir hall Mondsy evening. The gathering was composed prin cipally of the members and their families with a few outside Invited 1 guests. Cards was the favorite at traction, but the sweet music and a good social time generally helped to pass away the time pleasantly until the arrival of the refreshments (which were all that could b»id«idredl at about 11:80. At cards Mrs. George M. Lord won first, ladies* prize, ami Mr. 9. P. Wear first gentleman’s prize. Miss Ella Peterson and Mr. B. L. Nichols ear-* ried off second honors easily. A few days ago says—Ulysses— have a party—a Plow Party. We will furnish everything but the Coulter—and keep very quiet. We will invite a few friends to help plow the—Aichers—on the other side of the—Grove—and afterward we oau play—Goff—and dance the rest of the evening- Once the—Ball—starts rolling there will he great things doing for the— Miller—said he surely would be there and you know what fun he makes. Well, the party oame.off all right. But—Oh—Lord—l thought all the boys could get partners, but - It seems the girls had other engagements. Toward midnight, lunch was served ih the spacious ball (?) room and some of the boys made a—Bparr—for the small bench in the lonely corner of the room. Peter—Son—said ’twaa all right, —Cassiday—or so before that, all ar rangements had been made, even to the surprise of the mfin of the house. Revival Services. Evangelistic meetings are now In progress at the court house hall con ducted by Evangelista Frederic Grimes snd A. R. Givens of the Christian church. Tbe services will continue through several nights, and the entire community is invited to attend the revival. A large chorus chior under the direction of Prof. Givens will have charge of the mu sic. There will he plain gospel preaching, an Inspiring song service and sweet solos. No doubt the hsll will be crowded each night. Don’t fail to attend. You will miss it if you miss It.
