Professor Pinchot says the best of
feeling exists between the stockmen

An ice cream supper will be given
by the ladies of the Mesa Sunday
school, for the benefit of that worthy
organisation, on Saturday evening,
August 84th. from 7 to 10.
Ed Davis of Oakridge park jollied
the city folks for a while Wednesday.
Ed has just finished helping to put
up the first outting of Keller hay.

son longer than for many summers
past The cause was undoubtedly
the long, oold spring, which delayed
snow-melting in the flat-tops. Mr.
W. B. SaltAr, of Powell park, tried to

river at the present time.
Rube Ball sent four teams to Rifle,
Wednesday, In charge of Henry Wol
oott to bring In the first shipment of
trout fry. One team was furnished
by Mr. Isaac Baer and the other
three by Simp Harp. The shipment
arrived here Thursday afternoon In
obarge of H. T. Dawson of the Qlen
wood hatchery, and were distributed
at points in the river between here
and the mouth of the canon.
A report comes from Craig to the
effect that the Hastings Industrial
company is trying to interest the
people of that community in a cream
ery. We would advise our Craig
neighbors to pass up the creamery
proposition. We have a fine cream
ery plant here, but it’s Idle, for the
reason that cream can't, be bad to
ksep it running. You cannot Induce

There were probably a number of
dogs in town which that should have
been put out of the way but this not
the way to do It. If dogs are danger
ous or annoying, inform the town
mamhal; he will attend to' them.
Most of the dogs killed this week
were licensed, and the owners feel
justly Indignant at the manner of
their taking off.
A*^ordered by the town council
last week, the settling basin at the
head works of the gravity system
was cleaned out early this week. The
work took several days, but water in
the pipe-line was turned off only a
few hours. Investigation showed
some pretty rotten work at the head
of the system, but Thr Hkrald will
refrain from comment at this time,
as it is understood that in due time
the council will publish a full report
(both financial and otherwise) of
everything connected with our water
system

After a pleasant visit here with her
relatives—Mr and Mrs A L Strehlke
—Mias Olive Carr departed for her
home at Aspen Tuesday.
A E Rees returned to Meeker Satur
day after a trip "round the circle."
Mr Rees reports the eastern Routt
county towns quite lively.

W H Davey of Buford was at the
Meeker Saturday—exchanging greet
ings with numerous old acquaintan
ces, and—incidentally seeing John C
W Shepherd get "over a* rough and
rugged road," etc, etc, etc,
Charley Thompson and J L Beavers
had an enjoyable trip up the river
last week. Mr Thompson says the
north branch is alive with campers,
and the services of a game warden or
two Is badly needed up there.
Mr and Mrs Edmund Kelly and
son Shawn, arrived from New York
last Thursday and registered at the
Meeker hotel. Next day they pro
ceeded to their elegant summer lodge
on south branch of Williams river.
H A Sutton, Meeker’s candy manu
facturer, returned Wednesday from
Oakridge park after enjoying the de
lights of rural life for a few weeks,

to stack hay on ths Kellsr ranch—as
fthsy used to do it back in “Hliooy."
Mrs A H Adams departed Wednes
day for her old home at Oarrettsvllle
Ohio, where a family reunion will be
held. Mrs Adams will visit relatives
and friends at Chicago, Fort Wayne,
Warren, Ohio, Pittsburgh Pd, New
York City and other eastern places,
and will be absent several weeks.
Billy McGinnis, atone time a popu
lar member of the Hugus staff, was
registered at the Meeker Saturday.
Mr, McGinnis now travels for the
Paxt’otte Hat Company of Chicago.
‘•Mac" claims that he is of French
extraction and wants it distinctly un
derstood that he is not related to the
famous P McGinnis, we heard so
muob about when we were "kids."
He is one of the most popular knights
of the "road" that we know of.

oa behalf of the Town of Meeker, Colorado,
and upon tke credit thereof, by leaning
bonds of said Town to the amount of Ten
Thousand Dollars for thy construction of
water works for fire and domestic pur
poses, prescribing the form of said hoods
and providing for the levying of taxes to
pay the same.

said Town of Meeker who were tax payers
under the law, voting on the Question at an
election heretofore duly held for the pur
poee of taking said vote, by vote approved
the construction by said Town of water
works for Ore and domestic purposes within
and for said Town, the funds for which con
struction were to be ratsed by the issuance
of the negotiable coupon t>onds of the said
Town lu an amount not exceeding Mlxty
Thousand Dollars: and

Town have proceeded with the construction
of said water works aud for that purpose

with the corporate seal of said Town, be
signed by the Mayor and attested by the
Clerk and Recorder and countersigned by
the Treasurer thereof, and shall have at
tached to each bond thirty (*)) coupons,
numbered from oi*e (I) to thirty (80) Inclu
sive. each representing a semi-annual In
stallment of interest upon the said bond to
which Itls attached, and securing the pay
ment of the interest as It accrues, which
said coupons shall bear the signature of the
Treasurer of said Town, original or litho
graphed, and the number of the bond to
which they are attached. Held coupons
when so made, executed and delivered as a
part of said bonds, shall be the lawful obli
gations of said Town securing the payment
of said Interest In the hands of all persons
to whom they may come.

struction of said water works and the issu
ance hereof were duly approved by the vote
of a majority of the voters of said Town
who were tax payers under the law voting
on the question at an election duly held In
•aid Town according to law prior to the is
snance of this bond; that all conditions re
quired to exist and things required to be
done precedent to and In the Issuance of
this bond to render the same lawful and
valid did exist and have been properly done
and performed In regular and due time
form and manner as required by law; that
the total debtof said Town Including that
of this bond does not exceed any limit of In
debtedness prescribed by the constitution
or laws of the Htate of Colorado; and that
said ordinance provides for the levying of n
tax sufllelent to pay the annual Interest on
this bond as it accrues and to extinguish
the principal thereof within the time limit
ed for the same to ran and contains such
other provisions as are required by law.
