The Pi kin Miner brings word this week of the death from can cer of the stomache of Dr. A. F. Pettingill, which occurred Mon day, Oct. 2. Many of our peo ple were acquainted with the Doctor, who was one of the most popular citizens of that camp. Many is the miner and ranchman whom the Doctor has braved mountain blizzards to relieve of sudden illness. Dr. Pettingill will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for many years. From the Council proceedings it will be observed that the matter of repairing the reservoir is still dragging. The foresight of the board in putting in a supplemental reservoir is all that has given us a water supply for many months, and it does seem that the contractors, if they desire to do the right thing at all, should put a new bottom in the old one and that without delay. In the event of a fire we should be in bad shape if it got under such headway as to require the use of a great deal of wa'er.
