An Ohio lawyer who wrent down into Mississippi to live writes to a northern nurseryman for a catalogue and any informa tion the latter can give on grow ing fruits and truck crops in the state of his new home. In con nection with this request this gentleman says that the farmers near him do not grow any fruits or vegetables. We do not give his name or place ot residence, for obvious reasons, but we want our readers to see the picture he draws of conditions in his new home, and the need of a change. He says: "The average Mississippi far mer buys canned and dried fruits. Likewise canned and dried other goods. He gets up at the alarm trom a Connecticut clock, fastens his Chicago suspenders to his Detroit overalls, washes his face with Cincinnatti soap in a Pennsyl vania washpan, sits down to a Grand Rapids table and eats In diana hominy fried in St. Joseph lard on a St. Louis stove. Then he puts a St. Louis bridle on a Ten nessee mule and plows a tarm covered by an Ohio mortgage. When bedtime comes he reads a chapter trom a Bible printed in Chicago, says a prayer written in Jerusalem, and crawls under a blanket made in New Jersey, only ito be kept awake by the howling of a Mississippi dog. which is i about the only home-raised pro-i duct raised on the place.'' Isn't it a dire and dreadful pic- j lure? Overdrawn? Not a bit, so far as it relates to thousands of homes all over the country Time to make a change here, and let us hope our lawyer friend succeeds in his undertaking Mountain and Plain Ready mixed pa ml The Independent Limber Co OFFICIAL LIST OF NOMINATIONS OF Candidates to be Voted for at the Coming Town Election to be Held in the Town of Paonia, Colorado, April 6th.
