Davis returned from Yuma county this week bringing with him his aged father who will reside here in the future. Oliver Stone, of the Co-op tele phone company, was up from Delta this week looking alter the interests of the company. Notice the announcement of our new serial story in this issue. This story is a prize winner and you should strive to read it. J. F. Carnine has accepted a position with the McClenathan Merc. Company, C. C. Cherry having gone to his home in Den ver. W. T. Morgan, of Upland, Calif., arrived the latter part of the week and will spend the summer with his relatives. Sherman Allison and family. Billie Hopkins, editor of the Crawford Chronicle, and J. D. Smith were over from Crawford Wednesday and paid this office a call. The river has been booming this week but so far has done no damage. The cool weather of the last day and night has served to reduce the flow somewhat. Supt. Grant Ruland and a num ber of High School students, in eluding the Rhetorical contest ants of Tuesday night, went to Montrose this morning to attend the High School Meet in progress there today. The Delta County Medical As sociation held a meeting in Pa onia last Friday night Quite a number of physicians from vari ous parts of the county were pres ent and several subjects of im portance were discussed. The old Rico Sun outfit has been moved from that place to Cortez and the third paper at that place will soon be established by Geo. Hutt. The proprietor is a thorough newspaper man and will make the other papers hustle it they keep up with his gait. • The Commercial Association have issued invitations for the ladies to attend their meeting this evening and there will doubt less be a good turn out. We think this plan might be followed with profit regularly. It is needed badly if our mammoth fruit crop is to be transported out without loss. The building of forty miles of road would make that line a pay ing one instead of a losing propo sition, which it always has been. It would place them in a position to pull some high class freight out and their full share in. An invitation has been ex tended by the Crawford Business Men's Association to our Associ ation to attend a meeting at Crawford next Saturday the Bth. It is likely that a number of our business men will attend. The foundation for the new Kennedy brick block is now near ly completed and the superstruct ure will soon be started. That building looks good and the other side of the street ought to have one just like it. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Langdon and daughter, Grace, arrived on Tuesday evening’s train lrom Omaha, Ncbr., and will spend the summer on the Langdon ranch here. Mrs. R. C. Blades returned to Austin the last of the week.
