This as well as everything else indi cates an increase in the value of stock in Colorado’s agricultural resources and prospects. Mr. Bryant, of Bryant, Colo., was a welcome visitor at this office yesterday. Brixeiidine, who lives seven miles northeast of our city, remained away from his farm long enough to load up a fine wind mill aud pump at P. Ray mond’s this week. The machine was built for exhibition at tho Centennial and since thou has crossed the Atlantic and been on exhibition at several European cit ies. We acknowledge a very pleasant call from L. E. Sherman, of 7-48, father of our C. G., and A. F. Sherman, bis brother, on last Tuesday. Mr. L. E. Sherman was showing his brother the wonders of our agricultural resources and the progress of Ilolyoke. Mr. A. is an extensive traveler, Ids heme be ing in Ludlow, Vermont, and in all his experience and travels he does not think lie lias seen the equal of Phillips county nor a two-year-old of Holyoke’s size and attractions for investment. Our correspondent Virgo mailed the usual newsy budget of items for the llkkald in the mail box located in tho postoffice, which hud, until recently, been used jointly by the llkkald and News. These items were captured by tno antique gentleman who presides over the destinies of the News and published. He says it was an over sight. Wo request Virgo, as well as our other correspondents, to bring the items to tlie llruald office in tho fu ture, Hint no such oversights may oc cur in the future. Tliero are two samples of Phillips county wheat now on exhibition at Roden & Weaver's real estate office equal to anything the writer ever saw. If there are any people in Phillips county wlio a skeptical. let them not fail to see these splendid specimens of Colorado’s productiveness. One of tlie bundles is from tlie crop grown upon the farm of Mr. Yiugst, and he has twenty-live acres of tlie same kind. The other is from the faun of A. W. Young, near town. He suys it took two pounds of twine per acre to bind it. Mr. M. Troutman, father of our Os car, wilts a pleasant caller last week. Mr. Troutman lives in York county, Neb., and is now spending a few weeks visiting Ids son and wondering at tlie wonderful development of our town and country, and there is no question at all in the mind of Mr. T. that this is destined lobe 0110 of the finest coun ties in tlie country and Ilolyoke a cilv of more than ordinary proportion*, aud this opinion is based upon an txpuii dice reaching back over the history of York county, when tin- same wail eauie up from their county, and Hie pros pects were indeed anything but prom ising. Tlie consent of tlie company has been obtained to decorate tlie waiting rooms of Hie depot building with spec imens of lMiiilips county products, und all fanners are requested to bring in samples of their wheat, oats, rye. corn, grasses and vegetables, ami in fact ev ery thing raised by them in our pro ductive county.
