Charles Arnold, a brother of George France, with the Burrell Seed Mouse, arrived from Kansas City .with hi# family last week to make his perma nent home in Rocky Ford. B. U. Dye left Sunday for Denver to attend a special meeting of the State Agricultural College Board called in that city. The question of appropriations for state educational institutions is up to the state legisla ture. Attorney VV. C. Scauland, though a good democrat, was the first man to get Governor Buchtel’s signature to an official appointment. He has been made a notary in and for the county of Otero. C. J. Cover returned from Phoenix, Arizona, Friday, where he .went to look into a mining prospect in which several of our citizens arc more and less interested. The mine is located about fio miles from Phoenix on the Gila river. Mr. Cover’s report was highly encouraging. A few years ago ITT A. Rollins came here from Maine with only one lung. The climate has made a new man of him and lie is now as rugged as a grizzly bear. But, unfortunately, the last few years have not agreed with his wife’s hcajth and he left Tuesday for Riverside, Calif., to try that lower altitude hoping that his wife will be benefitted.
