In Canon City this work six
convontions wi re hold and annul 1
upon the same ticket The fusion
was made in the interest of silver.
Apparently, silver ts not a dead
isMje—with people who are aching
for the spoils of office.
The Democrat s»\s “remember
that three political organizations
placed the fusion ticket in the
field”—for the alleged purpose
of boosting the silver cause. If
the ticket is elected the county
commissioners will pass a resolu
tion opening the mints of Otero
county to the free coinage of sil
ver, ami if the county judge de
cides that the proceeding is in
regular form anil order, the fact
of free coinage will have been es
tablished and the citizens of this
minor commonwealth will enter
upon a career of prosperity hither
to unknown.
The post office department has
issued a new ruling regarding the
issuance of money orders. It has
been a prevailing custom for
persons to deposit money in the
post office for safe keeping. In
order to do this it was necessary
to deposit • the money in some
neighboring office and have it made
payable at the post office where
the depositor was residing. Under
the new ruling the money can be
deposited in and the money order
issued on some office for any
amount desired. This js the first
step toward establishing postal
savings banks. A law will probably
be passed at the next session of
congress establishing this safe and
desirable public utility.

Gentlemen ot the opposition
| for you are nothing if not antis:—
We Republicans may not win this
campaign, but we are going to give
■ \ ou the liveliest fight vou ever had
in all your lives. If vou win you
I will win b\ a majority so narrow
I that your hair will not lie smooth
j for the next two years.
We have three strong cards in
i our hands, and they are- Right,
'Honestx and Patriotism, the best
l in the pack. If the people of this
state understand things as they
are, we shall win; 'if you win it
will be because you have succeed
ed in keeping the people in ignor
ance as to the real issues of the
da\ and your real motives. Your
policy will be one of deceit, mis
representation, slander and abuse;
these you have already begun. We
shall meet you with appeals to
reason and statements of facts.
You will threaten and villify all
who are outside of your ranks; we
J shall invite and welcome all who
! will enter ours. You will preach
i Populism, Democracy or silver
ism as the changes of
time and place make it seem to
sour advantage; you will find us
everywhere and at all times Repub
lican. You will shift and dodge,
you will evade and conceal, you
will deny in turn your Populism,
sour Democracy and your remnant
of Republicanism as your Senator
Teller has done, and in turn you
will emphasize each one of them.
Your policy may win, but it will
not win always. Your party is in
the descendant, ours in the ascen
dant. Your day is past, ours is to
come. You are not as strong as
you were two years ago, we are
far stronger. You are losing your
grip. In spite of all your efforts
the people are getting on to you,
and if by your policy of masquer
ade and misrepresentation you
succeed in foisting upon the peo
ple of this state the nondescript
collection of political mavericks
and lightning change office seekers
which you now present for their
approval, it will only make your
inevitable collapse and downfall
the more Complete and irremedi
able.
And when that downfall comes
do not blame the Gazette for not
telling you what was going to hap
pen.—Colorado Springs Gazette.
Liver Complaints A Nervousness Cured
A torpid liver always produces
dullness, irritability, etc. You are
all clogged up and feel despondent.
Perhaps you have treated with
physicians or tried some recom
mended medicine without benefit.
All that is no argument against
“Dr. Fenner’s Blood and Liver
Remedy and Nerve Tonic,” which
we insist will cure netvousness and
liver complaints. If not satisfied
after using one bottle your money
will be refunded by the Palace
Drug Store.
