Miss Ariel Aux, who has been at tending school at Boulder return ed to her home in Bijou Basin, where she will spend the sum mer with her parents. The Decoration Day services held in the Presbyterian Church by the G. A. R. and W. R. C. was attended by a large crowd. All parties knowing themselves indebted to the Cort Merc Co will please settle at Reynolds Store. Catholic services will be held at Elbert Colorado, next Sunday June 4. The merchant who sends off to Kalamazoo or some other place for his printed envelopes and statiouary, in order to save a few cents, instead of patronizing the home printer is just as bad as the farmer who sends to a mail order house for his goods. Mr and Mrs Theo. Neuman came out from Denver in their auto and are visiting friends a round Elbert. The severe wind storm which swept Elbert County Thursday evening did much damage to tel ephone lines. At Simla the two story building put up by Mike Altman, to be used for a bank and Hall was demolished. It was to have been completed about the middle of June. Mr and Mrs Ray Jones of Par ker were in Elbert Sunday in their new I. Id. C. Auto, visiting at the Jewell home. Mrs Chas. Harding and sister Miss Mary Jones returned from Colorado Springs where they have been visiting their parents. Mr Wm Good of Kiowa was badly injured in a runaway, last week, the wagon running over him and tearing his leg Badely. Mr Good is well up in years and it will be some time before he will be able to be around again. Mrs Lucy Carlew made a business trip to Libert Tuesday. DIED At her homo on Comanche on May 13 1911, Mrs Lizzie M Cox. wife of Cyrus Cox, living about 5 miles east of Kiowa The cause of death was a stroke of paralysis and pneumonia. Mrs Cox was born in Wyoming Dec -18, 1809 and was married to Cyrus Cox Feb 26 1888. They lived in Harlem Neb. until March 1900 when they moved to Elbert county, their present home. Mrs Cox was 41 years of age at the time of her death and leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her loss News By Special Reporters News of the County as told by our Correspondents Bijou Bluffs About thirty young peoplo gathered at tho Colbert home Saturday night for a surprise birthday party in honor of the seventeenth birthday of Anna and Anderson. The evening was spent in playing games, refreshments were servd at midnight, and tho crowd departed for their homo at an early hour wishing tho hostess many happy returns. T. A. Kelly is sure in the sheep busi ness, he has oight hundred lambs. Carl Matthews dosen’t seem to make much speed with his top buggy, but per haps bo has a heavy load* Waldo Colbert is herding sheep for Mr Kelly. Mr Blakleys team ran away with tho plow, doing some damage to the i plow and harness. Carl Peterson was out joy riding Sat urday night, be missed n bridge, doing some damage to his buggy. He has tho sympathy of the entire community in this sad catastrophe. Miss Dunnington has returned from Colorado Springs and is visiting with her sister, Mrs Shethard Kelly. Little Vernie Lambert was kicked on the baud by a cow, throwing his thumb out of place. Dr Palmer was called from the Rock to replace it Miss Hazel Epler of Elbert visited a couple of days of last week with Mias Emma Larsen. Mr and Mrs J. A. They expect to take a trip to New York and will also visit Niagra Falls. Miss Henrietta Hlutner, who taught school last winter at Carbondale is vis iting her parents. Mr John Gannon Sr. is in Denver to undergo an operation. John Rinnert and Earnest Graham received 275 head of cattle from Ariz. Mr and Mrs Kay Cogswell and Miss Rose and Anna Graham spent with Mrs Fred Bush. . Mrs Arthur McCracken and three children left Monday for a three months visit with relatives.
