NO. 40 Local News In Paragraphs Interesting notes gathered during the past week Last Sunday the Elbert cheese and butter Co was discovered on lire on the east side. The horses were stopped by running into a telephone pole Camden is under medical treat ment at the Buleah hotel. Last Sunday afternoon it was discovered that the timber just west of the J. E. Barnes residen ce was on fire, but with the prompt assistance of the town people the fire was soon under control, although it burnt over several acres of ground distroy ing 50 or m ore trees. Mr Foster of Cherry, informs us that he will give three prizes; first, second and third on colts raised from Gabariau, the im ported percheron stallion at the coming Elbert County Fair. Mr and Mrs Gregory of Can ton Ohio are here visiting at the George home. They are very well pleased with Colo and will probably move here at some fu ture time. The Junior Aid Society will give a picnic on the 4th of July at Elbert, watch for further an nouncements. Mr and Mrs B. M. Narron are ,*n Denver this week on business. A C. and Sidney was interesting from start to finish, The game was played in one hour and twenty minutes, the score resulted 10 to 9 in favor of Sidney. A large crowd witnessed it. Taylor, age 23 of Colorado Springs and Katherine Dickerson, age 23 of the same city. The bride was divorsed hers in June. 1909 Denver Daily News. DIED At his home on Comanche on Friday June 2nd Mr. Joseph Albus Mr Albus was one of ihe pioneers of Elbert Coun ty, having resided on Comanche for many years. He had been in poor health for some time, and was thought to be improving. Ho leaves a wife and tive children oil of whom are grown. Services were held at the Catholic church at Kiowa. Interment was in Elizaeth cemetery NOTICE School Directors, please take notice! School has been posponed two weeks on account of small pox. Jesse Cole has been visiting at home the past few days. She is taking nurses training at the Deaconess Hospital, Colorado Springs. Several from here attended the child rens day exercises at the James Church and report a fine program. Mrs Frank Evans was at Colorado Springs fast week having dental work done. Alfred Cole started to Routto county Wednesday. Bijou Valley Items Mr Art Smidt was a pleasant calbr at the W. H. Casey homo Sunduy. Rev. Mr hush, the State organizer of Sunday Schools is to bo at Fondis Thursday evening, we hope to see a Sunday school organized there. Mr Wm. McCauley daughter Lilian were visitors at the John Under hill home Monday, Mr W. H. Casey delivered quite a lot of young pigs to a party living on cherry creeK Monday. Mr Grant Shauors was sheering Joe Janners sheep the first of the week. Mr George Allison is attending court ut Kiowa this week. Mrs Stanncr was transacting business in Fondis Saturday. Mr and Mrs Haines returned Sunday from a six months stay on the coast Mr Dameron came home Monday from California where he has been since las fall.
