Colbert went to Denver, Tuesday, for a few days visit at the stock show From there theyjntend to go to Nebraska to visit their daughter and family. From District No. 10. The well-drillers are at McDowells now. Quito a number in our locality have been gripped by the grippe. Several from here attended the box aocial in Libert last Friday evening. Frank lloepner went to Denver Tues day morning to attend the stock show. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dittomore and children are spending a few days at the Sutton home. G. C. Sutton and family are enjoying a short visit from his father, whose home is hi Missouri. Ed Dietrich, James Neely, Elmer Ep ler and Lloyd Dietrich autoed to Colo rado Springs last Friday. Ad Dittomore has been appointed sec retary in our district to fill the vacancy caused by Fred Dittemore's resignation. Rock Butte Miss Hazel Bentley came home from Davidson’s Monday. Several from this vicinity went to the stock show Monday. Myrn Wight came home from Denver Wednesday morning. Georg** Forsythe had a brother from Griswold, lowa, visiting him last week. Lu<t week while practicing with tho basket ball team Ralph Thompson fell and sprained his arm quite badly. Our black bob toiled house cat fell over on its side last Sunday and we know what was the matter —it died. Those who attended the State Grange report wtine time and an allround en joyable trip George Gresham and two sons, Harvey and Frank, took in the stock show Tues day and Wednesday. Mr. and Mr. Gus Dietrich spent Fri day at Ed Clark’s. Mr. Dietrich did some carpenter work. Mrs Hoover entertained Mr. and Mrs. Kunze and family, Mr. and Mrs. Potten ger and family at Sunday dinner. Mrs. John Rhudy who has been suf fering with a severe case of the grlpp* is somewhat better at the present writing Ed Dietrich and wife spent one day last week at A1 Carnahan's, Ed drivini? on to Kiowa, we presume, to. obtain an other license. Earl Rhudy, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rhudy and little son took advantage of the cheap rates to see the stock show. Mrs. Rhudy went to consult a physician in regard to her little boy. We hope it will be nothing serious. Big Springs H. A. Roehling returned from Denver Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Johnson wont to Elbert last Saturday. Frank Gabardi and daughter Annie went to Denver on Monday. Wo understand Mr. Casey has been sick again but is bettor now. D. E. Steckel bought the old thresh ing outfit from Johu Conarroe. Neely spent Sunday at Ad Dittemore's and had to remain until Monday afternoon because of a sudden illness. Bertie Royston has boeq quite sifTt with the grippe. Fay Mundy is also on the sick list. It seems to be going the rounds. Pottengor bad another car load of alfalfa hay shipped in Ihsi Tuesday. J. C. Brace and C. E. Brown motored to Denver, Tuesday, to take in the stock show'. Dee Pottengor was a Denver passenger Tuesday morning, he going up to attend the stock show. The Brcer Guthals and Henry Hopp mann families were callers at Wui.Clugy’- last Monday night. Earl Brace had a load of whtat on the Elbert market Tuesday and hauled back a loud of alfalfa hay. Mien Esther Brown was Unable to at tend school on Wednesday, she having an attack of tho grippe. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Good spent Sun day at the Roles homo. Wm. McCauley hauled a load of coal from Spring Branch Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs Forrest Head will soon move into the hotel at Fondis. On Thursday, Jan. 11* the old time friends of Mr. and Mrs. James Miller I woredelightfully entertained at the home 1 of their daughter, Mrs. D. 11. Campbell, it being their fifty-second wedding an nivorsary. Between forty and fifty friends were invited but owing to sickness only the following were present: Mrs. Ettu Dittomore, a daughter from Denver; Rev. and Mrs. F. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Hassell ami son, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stoker, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon McCain of Monument, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Hiatt and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Foster, Mrs. M. Williams, Mrs. Ed Hiatt, Miss Della Roberts, Mr. J. Melburn and Mr. Aug. Stokor. Tho house was tastefully decorated with evergreen. Yellow and white deco rations were carried out on tho table, where a sumptuous dinner was served by Mr and Mrs. Campbell. Place cards were decorated with yellow roses. After dinner a picture, of the group was taken then all went into the house where Rev. SZ sl-50 PER YEAR Walker gave an 'appropriate talk and I>rescuted Mr. ond Mrs. Miller with a l ift of money, mostly gold from their ! many friends. After a farewell song and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Miller for many more i years of wedded happiness the guests departed for their homes feeling that | they had spent a most enjoyable day. Here we are ngain. 1 see in our local paper, the Elbort Tribune, a short time ago an invitation to tnlk over the subject of a High school , in Elbert Now I would like to see El , bert have n High school .jIabs, but 1 hear . there is no room in the present school building for such, and I understand wo are bunded to the limit, I see no way to liolp it if such is the cuso. I see where , the building has been called the ‘‘Ten l Thousand Dollar Ice Box,” and I would i not like to have our high school pupils ■ turned into icicles by being conllned in a refrigerator.
