Mr. McKissick Is in the employ of the Pullman Car Company, and is one of the six operating superintendents of that corporation in the United States. Prof. Haley expects to return to this city for a short viist during the Christ mas holidays. WOOD-TUTTLE WEDDING OCCURRED LAST SUNDAY Miss Pauline Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Wood of Florence, and V. E. Tuttle, son of Mrs. M. A. Tuttle of Canon City, were united in mar riage at the Christ church is the Oak Creek country on Sunday. The bride was attired in a beautiful white crepe de chine and satin dress. In honor of the young couple there was a deli cious picnic dinner served at which about 30 guests were present, com prising friends and relatives of the contracting parties. Mr. and Mrs. Tutt’e left for Pueblo on a brief honeymoon. Their many friends ex tend congratulations. DR. AND MRS. G. H. WARNER HERE SUNDAY Dr. and Mrs. G. H. Warner and fam ily of Grand Junction stopped over in Canon City last Sunday for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. George F. Rockafellow and family at 930 Green wood avenue, while on their way home from a 6.000-mile automobile trip to Hartford. Conn., and other points in New England and on the Atlantic sea board. FRUITGROWERS PROSPEROUS ON WESTERN SiOPE Florence. Sept. 9. —S. M. Stout has returned from a week’s visit with rel atives and friend* at Grand Junction He states that the fruitgrowers are harvesting fine crops in the Grand val ley this year, and they are getting good prices for the product of their orchards. The farmers are all busy with auto trucks and cars hauling peaches to the depot for shipment for which they find a ready cash market at $2 a basket. Bartlett pears are bringing $2, while the Kiefers are sell ing at 61.75 t. o. b. Grand lunct'.on. Fruit buyers are practically running after the growers in their efforts to close contracts. Mr. Stout says that alfalfa seed (hulls) is sel lng at 22 cents. Everyone is prosperous and automobiles are being purchased like hot cakes. WILL LEAVE WEDNESDAY FOR ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY Alfred Sinden will leave on Wednes day for Chicago where be will spend a few days before resuming his studies in the mechanical engineering depart ment of the University of Illinois at Champaign, which opens on Septem ber 22. He will enter the junior year’s class, for which he has made preparation by vacation study. This will be bis second year at the Uni versity of ll inois, which was preceded by one year at Colorado College.
