Page Six Lamar Men Have Thrilling Experience On River Road Clarence Brickley of Lamar, and a ••companion. whose name we were un able to obtain, bad a thrilling experi ence while motoring along the Rain bow route on the upper river road in a Ford car en route from Texas Creek x±o Canon City last Wednesday. While speeding along-at a good clip ‘•on a down grade about five miles west of Pnrkdale. they were unable, for some reason, to negotiate a sharp curve in the highway and their ma chine jumped over a cliff and landed In the Arkansas river, fully 50 feet 'below. The car did not turn over, bin nrude a Hying leap and landed in •the water right side up So sudden and unexpected was the accident that neither of the young men had an op portunity to jump, and were in their seats when the car landed in the stream. They were badly shaken up by the force of the impact between the car and the river bed. but were not seriously, hurt. The front wheels of the car were crushed by the fall and some of its machinery disarranged, but otherwise the damage was not great The dis abled car was brought here today for repairs.
