Lamar Men Have
Thrilling Experience
On River Road
Clarence Brickley of Lamar, and a
••companion. whose name we were un
able to obtain, bad a thrilling experi
ence while motoring along the Rain
bow route on the upper river road in
a Ford car en route from Texas Creek
x±o Canon City last Wednesday.
While speeding along-at a good clip
‘•on a down grade about five miles west
of Pnrkdale. they were unable, for
some reason, to negotiate a sharp
curve in the highway and their ma
chine jumped over a cliff and landed
In the Arkansas river, fully 50 feet
'below. The car did not turn over,
bin nrude a Hying leap and landed in
•the water right side up So sudden
and unexpected was the accident that
neither of the young men had an op
portunity to jump, and were in their
seats when the car landed in the
stream. They were badly shaken up
by the force of the impact between
the car and the river bed. but were
not seriously, hurt.
The front wheels of the car were
crushed by the fall and some of its
machinery disarranged, but otherwise
the damage was not great The dis
abled car was brought here today for
repairs.
