LA JUNTA NEWS
A special meeting of the city council
was hold Saturday night at which time
bids were received on the bonds about
to bn issupd for the rehabilitation of,
the municipal wuter system. Bids wero
offered by eight concerns handling
bonds. They worn sold to lh" Hos
worth-Chamite company of Denver
which bid $987.70 for bonds bearing 5
per cent interred. They will be issued
in the mirn of $115,000 which will ma
ture at. the end of fifteen years, pay
ment being optional with the city at
the expiration of ton years.
The Otero County Gas company held
a reception Monday afternoon at the
plant on West Fifth street. The old
building was destroyed by fir«j last
June and the new structure has just
been completed. It was erected at a
rust of $6,000 and is constructed entire
ly of steel with sheet metal sheathing.
A new bench lias also recently been
completed.

Wednesday to take charge of the new
five, ten, fifteen, twenty and twenty
five cent store which will open here
about February 1. Mr. (Mow has been
connected with the Woolworth chain
of stores for a nufhber of years.
Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Hyatt of Pali
sade, Colorado, were guests of Mr. and

Year's day. They made the trip by
