Barton to Miss Ikllc Cowan, took place yesterday morning at the residence of Mr. Jefferson Kay nolds. There vu nothing extravagant or showy ahout the affair, but good tate and ftcnsQ were observed through out. Only the most intimate friends were invited, and it passed off quietly and pleasantly. Miss Cowan, a sister of Mrs. Jefierson Kajnohls, is a most esti mable and accomplished young lady, with many good qualities, and admired by her numerous acquaintances. Mr. Barton is a gentleman c f irreproacha ble character, good habits, and highly esteemed by all. He holds a position of trust with Messrs. Browne & Manzana res, the wealthy merchants. the cr.KF.su nt was conducted by Rev. J. C. Eastman, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, at the residence of Mr. Jefferson Ray nolds. The guests were few, only the most intimate frieuds being invited. After the ceremony the wedding din ner was partaken of by all, and soon the happy couple entered the carriage waiting for them, and were driven to the train, on which they left for a MT.ODING TOIII through the East. They will stop at several cities, but most of their time will be spent in Boston and at Salem where Mr; Barton's mother resides. Last evening at the parlor of the Grand View Hotel, Mr. Robert M. Town was united in matrimony with Miss Lillie Fisher, of Los Angeles, Cal ifornia, Rev. I). M. Brown of the M. E. church, officiating. The bride and groom were both from Los Angeles, but the latter hasbeen en gaged in business in this Territory, and not having time to go to the Pacific, the bride sensibly and properly came alone to Las Vegas, arriving by the At lantic express yesterday. Last night the lovers of Los Angeles were made husband and wife in Las Vegas. Those present at the ceremony were Rev Brown and wife; W. II. Town of Chica go, brother of the groom; L. Bishop of Chicago; J. II. Koogler and wife and Dr. Sutlin. Mr. and Mrs. Town will become permanent residents of Las Ve gas. They have the best wishes of the Gazette for long years of happiness. "I'CRHt of Our I.ntfy of Guadalupe.' In Paso del Norte, Mexico, from the 8th to the 25th of December next, will be held the great "Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe." Mr. George O. Edgerton of that city, arrived in Las Vegas yes terday and was interviewed by a Ga zette man. He is traveling for the purpose of making known to tho pub lie the points of interest of the feast, and to invite every one to attend. From the neatly printed programme which he showed us, we find that the attrac tions will consist of national Mexican games, bull lights, races, chicken mains, Indian dances, and fireworks. The Atclason, Topcka & Santa Fe and Southern Pacific railways have agreed to reduce their rates one-half to all persons attending who travel over those roads. Mr. Edgerton states that $5,000 will bo expended in adding attractions to the feast. Union's Boom. The citizens of Raton are evidently alive to their interests. They believe that enterprise goes a long way towards making a town. The follow ing call for a meeting this evening has been sent out : Believing that no plan for public im provement in Raton or. One hundred and foxty Sharp's rifles were shipped yesterday to.various points in tho Territory for the purpose of arm ing military companies organized by the Governor. The greater part of these guns wcntto4Scven Rivers in Lin coln county, Rincón and Chloride in the Black Range. Ex-Congressman B. F. Franklin, of Kansas City, was a passenger on the Pacific express yesterday. He was re turning home from an extensive trip through southern Colorado and New Mexico.
