December, 1962 Modern Dance Club Formed WHITERIVER - Persons in terested in learning creative dancing will have an opportuni ty each Monday evening at Al chesay Hall where a course in modern dancing is being con ducted by Irma Kitcheyan and Pat Bronson. Mrs. Kitcheyan, who former ly taught modern dancing in college for two years, reported the forming of a club open to everyone interested in the art. Modern dance is described as What else gives so much torso little? You can shop, run errands, visit with friends—do business just by picking up the telephone re ceiver. What is more, your tele phone is on call for emergency service 24 hours a day. Weigh it for value and you’ll find that nothing else is so high in service —so low in cost —as your telephone. According to Mrs. Kitcheyan, the dance is the ex pression of the way music makes a person feel and tells a story without words. New members are taught simple dance routines at first that require no special training. Moreover, the gals relate, it’s a perfect way to get back into shape. TALL TEXAN TOPS TALL TALES' WHITERIVER - Morris Aber nathy of Whiteriver is a tall Texan who can tonsil-up a tall tale with the best of them. To prove his point, Abernathy out talked his opponents to win top honors in a recent Toastmas ter’s humorous speech contest. The contest followed a din ner meeting in Globe of mem bers of Area 3 Toastmasters Clubs and their wives. Aber nathy’s talk was titled ‘Prevari cation or Exaggeration’ in which he queried whether the ‘tall tales’ attributed to Texans are based on fact or fiction. Members of Toastmasters Clubs from Whiteriver, Globe, Kearny and other points gave up and voted Abernathy the winner when he came up with ‘true versions’ of tall tales that turned out to be more amazing than the original account. No report was received on the prize he won but fellow Toastmasters all agreed that re gardless of what it may have been, the tall Texan would probably exaggerate it. The Fort Apache Scout Each session lasts for an hour and a half and those interested in attending are asked to wear gym clothes or leotards. The club now has 16 mem bers and officers elected at the second meeting of the new group were: President, Irma Kitcheyan; Vice-President, Pat Bronson; Secretary, Jol en e Mills, and Treasurer, Karen Sparks. A recital and dance symposi um is scheduled for next spring, club members declared.
