December, 1962 Hold Christmas Services... BUDDY OLIVER HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS A WHITERIVER - William (Buddy) Oliver, 12-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Oliver is g. Christmas visitor to his home on the Fort Apache Reserva tion. Buddy has been attending school at Brown Schools, Aus tin, Texas for the past two years. He formerly was a student at Whiteriver public school and has been greatly missed by his old friends and teachers. The Olivers report that Bud dy is very active in baseball and swimming teams at Brown and is currently vice-president of his class. The youth flew alone by commercial airline from Austin to Phoenix on Sunday, Decem ber 16. His parents met him at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and brought him to Whiteriver. Buddy will visit with friends during his Christmas stay on the Reservation before return ing to Austin on January 4. : *•* TO JOtlLZt'% WHITE MOUNTAIN LUMBER CO. Arizona At Reservation Churches . . . WHITERIVER - Tribal mem bers will be able to partake in religious Christmas services throughout the Reservation scheduled as part of the Christ mas rites. In Whiteriver, Father Sebas tian, pastor of St. Francis Cath olic Mission has announced that midnight Mass will again be held on Christmas Eve in the chapel. A special Christmas Mass will be held also at 9 a.m. on December 25th in Whiteriver and Cibecue, Christmas Mass will be held at noon, Father Se bastian declared. The good Padre urges all Tribal members, regardless of their religious affiliations, to at tend the services and has issued an open invitation to any of the Masses scheduled. Reverend Arthur Guenther, Pastor of the Whiteriver Luth eran Church announced the fol lowing schedule of services at the Whiteriver Lutheran Mis sion: Sunday, December 23, 11 a.m., Baptismal Service; Mon day, December 24, 7 p.m., Christmas Eve Service; Tues day, December 25, 7 p.m., car oling; Sunday, December 30, 11 a.m., Communion Service. Reverend Guenther reported that all church activities other than the regular services will not be held during the week of December 24. He issued an open invitation also to all Tribal members and others to once again affirm their faith in the true meaning of Christmas by attending church.
