Local Happenings That Are Too Short for
Heads.
Mrs. M. C. Rowe spent yesterday
at St. Simon.
L. L. Osborne, of Chicago, is in the
city at the Oglerhorpe.
E. Lilienthal, of Savannah, is in the
city at the Oglethorpe.
“Leander” Reed spent yesterday in
Brunswick on business.
Warren H. Williams, of Waycross,
was in the city yesterday.
Charley Doerllinger ia now serving
as mate on the Pope Cathn.
Charles Arnall, of Atlanta, was in
the city yesterday on business.
Senator A. O. Bacon has returned to
Macon after a pleasant stay at Cum
berland.
W. J. Ilayiow, master of transpor
taiionof the Plant System, was in the
oily yesterday.
Mrs. du Bignon and Miss Josephine
du Bignon returned from St. Simon
yesterday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. T. Hailey ar.d
i oily will return to Brunswick from
St. Simon on Monday.
R. L. Prempert, of Louisville, a
well known commercial traveler, was
at the Oglethorpe yesterday.
Miss Elizabeth Nightingale will
leave Wednesday for New York, after
spending the summer at St. Simon.

S. W. llitchand family,of Wayeross,
left St. Simon for home last night,
alter spending the summer in the
Wayeross colony.
Another big Atlanta excursion will
be here on August 22, to go to St. Si
mon and Cumberland. Avery low
rate has been given.
Miss Loyola Brown has opened her
school of penmanship and typewriting
in the old Riflemen’s armory, fronting
the Oglethorpe hotel. 11-3 t
Mrs. T. K. Unger, who has been vis
iting her sister, Mrs. Wm. Nightin
gale, on St. Simon, will leave today
for her home in Knoxville, Tenn.
The families of Mrs. Gray and Mrs.
liruner will close their cottage in the
Wayeross colony at St. Simon the
early part of next week and return to
their homes.
Miss Sr.die Vi ebb, of Demopolis,
Ala., who has been visiting the Misses
Burroughs at St. Simon, passed
through the city yesterday en route
for her home.
It is really surprising how custom
has ruled the early ending of the sea
son at our two beautiful island resorts
August and September are really two
of the most enjoyable months, yet so
few people stay to enjoy them.

Wiil you kindly allow me' space to
raise my voice in protest against the
practice of throwing handbills and
posters of various sizes in the front
yards of folks who like to be tidy? If
they are to be distributed to each
house, let the carrier put them in the
bouse, and one is all that is necessary.
I am really tired seeing a mass of the

Messrs. Tilton & Brown have closed
their St. Simon emporium for the sea
son, after having been most success
ful. If Father Neptune decides to let
the building stand, they wilS most
likely resume business next year.
