W Sobatfer.—Telegraph ADJUTANT GENERAL Move to Have Office Filled by Officers of State Troops. An effort will probably be made at the next meeting of the legislature to have the office of adjutant general filled by a vote of the commissioned officers of the State militia, A well known officer of the State that a number of military men were lu favor of the fdea, and that a bill looking to that purpose would be introduced at the next meeting of the general assembly. The officer took the position that the head of the mili'ary should beelec ed by the officers from all the regiments, just as colonels and majors are elected by a vote of the officers in the regiment. Such a plan would no doubt be a popu lar one military men of the Slate. As it is now, t :e adjutant general is appointed by the governor, and while the officer appointed is generally ao ceptable to the m litary, yet a great number of them would prefer that they have a voice in the selection.
