The themoneter only registered 84 atone o’clook in the afternoon. Mr. J, H. Walker, the Mieses Walker of Atlanta, passed through the oity yesterday en route to Bt, Simon, where they will spend sometime. A large lighter oame np from Cris pen yesterday with a heavy load of maohinery, which is being taken ont of the old Crlspen mill. The machinery was unloaded at the oity dook. The street sprinklers could have bsen used to good advantage yesterday. The heavy wind caused olonde of dnet to fly in every direotion, and the mer obant’s store ie quite duety this morn ing. Use the street sprinklers—that’s what they were bought for. No Mallory ship hag arrived this week. The Mallory people obartered another ship to take the run in place of the Colorado, which met with an accident a few weeks ago and was not ready to leave New Tork Friday, The other ship left Bundsy and is looked for tcday. Cofaen, formerly of this place, has jnat completed a most luooessfal engage ment in Oolumbns, where she was met with great appreciation by the citi zens, and her cornet playing was loudly encored every number on the program. It waa the first matoh game that the club has played with an out of town club. Although our team met a defeat at the bands of the Darien craoks, they all report having a delightful time, and •ay the Darien people know how to entertain visitors as well ta they oan play golf. It is probably that the Darien olnb will be invited to Brunswick fora game shortly. ARMED MEN ATTACK TRAIN. Seven Passenger* Were Killed—Mexican Guards Are in Pursuit. Cordova, Mex , July 18.—A train on the Vera Cruz and Pacific railroad was attaoksd recently by a large force of armed men at Tierra Bianca, a small station. Seven men on the train were killed. Aa soon aa the news of the attack reaohed Cordova a force of rnralee was sent to the sosne and is now in pursiit of the mob. The oause of the attaok ie not known here. It is said to have been made by men who were formerly employed in tbe oosti uoiion of tbe road.
