Oot. 3 -The trustees of the Soldlei’s Home met here today and ap pointed a building committee of five to take np at onoe the mvtter of rebuild ing the home. The committee consists of President W, L. Calhonn, Msj W T. Gary of Atlanta, Judge H. W. Bell of Jefferson, Judge W. F, Jenkins o' Eatonton. and Col. C. M. Wiley of Ma -000. The oommittee was empowered to aeleot a plan for the new home and to oall for bids for its oonstruotlon. As soon as this is done, the trustees will meet and award the contraot, Tb building oommittee met as soon as the trustees adjourned and authorised President Calhonn to seoare plans from architects. Both the oottage plan and the old plan will be aektd for though the trustees generally favor the cottage plan. The trustees decided to issne an address to the people, whioh was done this afternoon, calling lor farther sub scriptions. They fled t ey hsv avail able about abont $23 000, but that fully $30,000 and perhaps a little more will be needed to rebuild the home. A vote of thanks was extended to the presa of the state for its kindness in aiding in the work of rebuilding the home, Muj, W. T. Gary was elected presi dent pro tern in place of Maj, Joseph B. Cummings, resigned. The trustees amended the rules wltb regard to drunkenness so aa to prohibit begging on the streets whioh baa been indu’ged in to some extent by some of the veter ans.
