1? S If The Southerner. TARBORO': JUNE 24. FOR GOVERNOR, THO.IIAS BRAfiG, Esq. Of Northampton County. Candidates for Governor. Tho Gubernatorial canvass is pro gressing with energy, and thus far with commendable forbearance. Tlie sub ject of Internal Improvement, in its va rious phases, appears to bo the principal theme of discussion; but at Ilillsboro' they wore requested to declare their sentiments In relation to a prohibitory law, or restrictive legislation on the subject of the liquor traffic. Gen. Dock cry iu reply said, if it was the desire of the friends of temperance that a prohi bitory law should be passed, he would not interpose a feather to prevent it, nor would he on the other hand throw a feather's weight in favor f it. What restrictions were proper to be laid upon the traffic in spiritous liquors was a matter for legislative consideration, with vrhieh the Governor had nothing to do. Mr. Bragg, in his reply, made pretty much the same declaration with regard to a restrictive law. lie "would not do any thing to retard or forward a law to restrict the sale of Ktnrsrs. It was a matter solely for lecdshativc ac-!8avinS implements ever invented. Mr. j rI:;vAL1I)S recovering from the ef tion, and with the Legislature he would I Pnf haS. I waB taken with a violent palpitation, or rather fluttering or trembling of the heart which continued several days; it seemed as though. my heart h.-d almost forgotten its offiee. The family became alarmed and pro cured a bottle of the valuable medicine, aud before I had taken near one bottle of this Tincture of Hampton' t lyrns entirely relieved. This is the third instance of relief in my family from the use of this valuable medi cine. Two or three years ago Iwas laid up with ulceration of my ankle, from effect of what i usually called milk leg. I had lost .all taste and appetite, and the sore, which was some four inchet up and down, and half way around tay ankle, rejected every effort to he il it, until I procured Hampton's Vege table Tincture; one bottle of which restored my health, healed my ankle, and I am freer from swelling than for the last thirty years, Again, one of my daughters was very low from severe dysentery, and when she began to sit up her foct commoneed swelling, which increase 1 every day and begna to be very painful she used a bottle of llamp tons Tincture; the pains were assuaged, the swelling subsided, and her health returned wc kept her legs bandaged with strips of woolen until her strength returned.
