devotion to liberty by trampling the

quence was that the aforesaid Joshua
aud David, two of the mst wealthy
and therefore conspicuous J ustiees of
the Peace who sustained the license
were elected by acclamation.
But it may be said, Col. Clark was a
Justice of the Poaee and he did not
sustain the license how docs it happen
that he received a large vote? True if
is the. Colonel was a Justice of the
Peace and it is also true, (a fact which
should never be forgotten,) he Was a
mwmber of the Special Court. A in un
