Mr. Austin will build a residence on it at once. M. E. Harbin, the Crookston insurance man, was in the city yesterday talking New York Life to his friends. Mr. Harbin went to Blackduck last right on the same mission. John Moberg, of Alida, was in the city last night. Mr. Moberg was formerly one of the firm of Moberg & Carlson, who conduct ed a general store at Alida, but retired from business a short time ago. B. F. Carter returned yester day morning from a trip to North Dakota, where he had been look ing up the wood market. Mr. Carter leaves today for Wilton to take charge of the office of Lang & Carter at that point. S. R. Moorhead, editor of the Turtle River Pine Tree, was in the city yesterday. Mr. Moor head says Turtle River is forg ing steadily to the front and there is lots of logging going on in that vicinity this winter. Moore & Wiedrick yesterday sold two lots in the second ad dition to the village of Bemidji to Mrs. Ragnild Gjillestad, of Min neapolis, who will remove to Be midji to make her future home and will erect a fine residence on the property, which has one of the best locations on Bemidji avenue. Carlson was decided in favor of the plaintiff by Judge Skinvik the first of the week. The plain tiff was awarded four dollars damages and was released from the costs. The local tribe of Red Men elect officers one week from next Thursday night. The entire tribe is asked to make it a point to be present and assist in the election of a chief sachem. The case of Solberg vs. Newby had a hearing in Judge Skinvik's court yesterday. It involved the possession of a barn on Irvine avenue. The plaintiff won out, secured possession of the barn and was awarded the sum of 45 rental. J. K. Brown, the '-White Ma hatma," entertained at the City Opera House last night. Mr. Brown is exceptionally talented in his line and the feats of tel epathy and occult experiments which he performed were far above the ordinary. A. C. Porks, was visiting Bemidji friends yesterday. Mr. Haver hold is prominent in Last Grand Forks politics and is a gentlemen and character well known throughout the northwest. He is sometimes called the squatter governor of North Dakota. He served as deputy to Mr. McCor mick, who was secretary of Da kota in the territorial days and when the state was split in two the secretary was the executive officer chief. During the absence of his employer Mr. Haverhold conducted the. affairs of bhg office and in this way he gained the title of the squatter governor.
