HE MIXES WITH BIG BOYS News Editor Attends Meet ing of Northern League of Grand Forks. WILLARRANGEFOR BASEBALLIN BEMIDJI NEXT SIMMER. Six Sunday Gaines and Games Every Day of Liquor Dealers' Meeting the Schedule. C. R. Martin, editor of the Beltrami County News, is hob nobbing with the silk stockinged aristocracy at the Hotel Dacotah in Grand Forks today, where he is in attendance at the meeting of the Northern League baseball officials and where he hopes to have accepted a proposition that will give Bemidji some fast base ball next summer. The official schedule of the league will be in a measure at least formulated at a meeting of the league officials at the hotel tomorrow and Mr. Martin will make every effort to have Be midji included in.the itinerary of the league teams. Mr. Martin will endeavor to arrange for a series of six Sun day games to be played in this city during the summer. Ex cursions will be run to Bemidji c? from outside points, the games will figure in the season's aver ages of the league and the best article of baseball is thus as sured. He will also arrange for a series of three games here dur ing the convention of the Retail Liquor Dealers in June. He has every assurance that tae propb sition which he will submit to the league officials will be ac cepted and if it is, it will finally dispose of the baseball question so far as Bemidji is concerned next summer. The Northern League is ex pected to be faster than ever next season and will include about eight teams as the plans are outlined at present. Teacher Has Four Pupils. Perhaps the smallest school in Beltrami county is away up in the northern part of the county. There are only four pupils en rolled, but they attend school regularly and the district hires a teacher to instruct them. The only visitors the school has are cruisers and woodsmen, who stop to get warm. They are always given a cordial reception and say the four pupils are being taught more by their efficient teacher than many children who go to more pretentious schools are able to learn with every advantage. It will be located on higher ground and has advantages of location that are better for a number of purposes. The town has been having some trouble to secure official recognition from the gov ernment and railway authorities. WATCHES! The puzzling question of what to give a man or lady for Christmas is quickly answered here: WATCHES The name was originally Hovey Junction, but the postal depart ment would not sanction this name so it was changedto Funk ley and named in honor of the well known Blackduck attorney.
