Shanedling .went to Duluth Tuesday, where he serves his coun try as a member of the grand jury panel for the Septemb6r term. Mrs. H. Nathanson left Monday for Chicago, -for a short visit with friends, after which she will go to New-York before returning home. J. A. Stein returned Monday from a visit to the Baraboo ore district, where with others he is interested in exploratory and development work. Saiifc B109m, of West Superior, was in the city Friday last. Mr. Bloom completes arrangements to re-enter business at Superior in the near future. Dr. J. H. Crowe will shortly occu py the rooms over the Virginia Pharmacy, vacated the first of the week by H. S. Clark and family. A nice suite of offices. Presiding Elder Clemens con ducted quarterly conference at the First M. E. Church Saturday eve ning and occupied the pulpit at the Sunday morning service. Mrs. A. P. Belanger and Mrs. A. Hawkinson left Monday for the Twin Cities during the State Fair week. They will also visit at Hud son, Wis., before their return. Jens Rasmussen returned Mon day evening from a visit of some days to his claim in 62-18, in the Lit tle Fork valley. He says that crops in that section are doing finely. Geo. Leanna, local manager for the Hercules Powder Co., left Tues day for Minneapolis, for the pur pose of purchasing new horses for the company for their range de liveries. Dr. W. T. Bailey, Jr., returned: Monday from an extended visit to Idaho, where he has been looking after development work at the Con tinental mine, in which his father and others are interested. M. Shanedling, of the Big Store, returned Wednesday from an ex tended visit to the New York mar kets. where he has been purchasing new stock for the firm's stores at this point and Eveleth. A. W. S. Calderwood left Tuesday for his home at Saginaw, Mich., alt er a short visit to the city. He goes by ./.way of Chicago on his return trip, stopping there for a few days to purchase stock for his Saginaw store. Messrs. J. Mesberg and L. Cohen and families, accompanied by Miss Dollie Myers,-went to Buhl'on Sun day, where they were in attendance at the marriage nuptials of Miss Addie Lewis to Jacob Lowen, which occurred, at the home of the bride's parents. We note by the Chisholm Herald that James Mulligan, formerly manager of the Golden Gate Thea treat this place, has been engaged by Frank Senrick as manager of the new variety theatre being erected at Chisholm. It is expected to open the new resort the coming week. In accordance with the agree ment made with the' Clerks' Union some three weeks a£o, the general stores in the city, instituted the early closing movement on Tues day evening, closing at 8:00 o'clock each evening, with the exception of pay days and Saturday nights.
