Mrs. Samuel DeQeaurivage left Wednesday for Quebec, Montreal, where she-will attend the wedding of a nephew of Mr. DeBeaurivage. Before completing her visit in the east* she. will enjoy a trip down the St# Lawrence and will visit at many eastern points. A party of Chisholm officials were Virginia visitors on Monday, inspect ing the paving work done in this city. Chisholm .will do considerable paving this season and the object of the party was to view the' various materials in use in this city, and de cide which should be given prefer ence in the work to be done. Miss Belle Garvey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Garvey, is enter taining Miss Emma Pugsley of Ash land, Wis. Mrs. A. G. Flournoy left Tuesday for an extended visit with relatives and friends on _the coast, intending to visit Seattle, Portland, Spokane and other points before her return in September. Mr. Flournoy, genera] sales manager for the Virginia & Rainy Lake company, accompanied her as far as Chicago, where he spends the week in looking after du ties in connection with his position. Chas. Grabowsky and family re turned Sunday from a trip to Detroit, where they had been in attendance at the marriage of Mr. Grabowsky's sis ter. Emmet J. Taylor, of the Cole & McDonald clerical force, returned Monday evening frJm a trip to Chi cago. F. J. Webb, general manager of the Republic Iron & Steel company mines, accompanied by Thomas Flan nagan, superintendent of the Gilbert district, made an inspection of the company properties on the range the first of the week. Mrs. J. A. Kennedy/ who attended the grand lodge convention of the Rebekahs as a delegate from the Vir ginia lodge, returned home" Sunday. Edward Starr, a former Virginian now engaged on steam shovel work on the hew Sault canal lock, spends the week on the range, visiting his mother at the Kinney mine and re newing former friendships. Martin and Axel Moe left in the former's car and Mr. and Mrs. Thom as Moe left on the noon train Sat urday for their former home at Lake Park, Minn., where they will attend a family reunion on the 70th anni- versarr of their Dr. J. H. CiwTe returned Tuesday evening from a trip to Solon Springs^ Wis., where he had been to attend Capt. Harry Roberts who-is ill at his summer home at that point. A tfutyk {settlement of a death claim was recently made by the Woodmen of the World in the case of the heirs of Andrew Ahonan, who died about four weeks ago. Attorney Otto A. Poirier was "named adminis trator of the estate arid within three weeks after his appointment the money was paid over to him in trust for the heirs, "there being, six, all of whom reside in the east. E. W. Brown, special organizer of the Woodmen of the World, handled the matter, and states that nearly all claims are as promptly settled. Eli LaSarge, traveling auditor for the Fitger Brewing company, visited many of the range towns the past week in the interests of his company. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Pfremmer, Eve leth, were Virginia visitors Sunday Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Doughty left Sunday for Mr. Doughty's former home at Qshkosh, Wis., where they will visit friends for several weeks. Upon their return they will be ac companied by Mr. Doughfy's little daughter, who will make her home here for the summer. Julius, Morris and Henry Shaned lirig, of the firm of Shanedling Bros., attended to business matters in Du luth the fore part of the week. P. J. Greaney, the well known "father" of Greaney and postmaster at that point, was in the city Satur4 day. Mr. Greaney has recently been appointed as a deputy sheriff under Sheriff Meinlng, adding one more title to the many that have accrued to him during his long residence on the northern Minnesota frontier. Mrs. Mark Eddy and daughter left Monday for a trip down the lakes, expecting to leave the boat at Buffa lo. They will visit many eastern cities before their return. O. H. Griggs, general manager of the Virginia Electric Power & Water company, returned Monday evening from a week's business trip to Chi cago. F. J. Rinnert was a Duluth visitor the fore part of the week, making the trip to the Zenith City in his new Reo on Sunday. Mrs. Conley, of Winnipeg, former ly Mrs. Robert Cobean of this city, was the guest of Mrs. W. R. Em erson Friday and Saturday, stopping here for a brief visit eri route to eastern Canadian points. The Rev. Henry E. Neff, of the Presbyterian church, on Saturday performed the ceremony uniting in marriage Clinton Worshun and Miss Helen Schaum. The groom is a prom inent young mining man and the bride is a sister of Miss Gertrude Schaum, both being well and favor ably known in the city. Thfe congrat ulations of many friends are ex tended. D. B. McDonald, a former Virgin ian now of Duluth, was in the city the first of the week, looking after business and property interests. Mrs. M. Shea, of Perham, Minn., arrived in the city Monday for a visit at the home of her son, Attorney George F. Shea. Mrs. G. H. Moore spends several days this week as the guest of Ely friends. Wm. Rooney looked after business matters in Duluth the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Terrell enter tained at 6 o'clock dinner Saturday evening, those present being Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Eaton and Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Stevens. Miss Beatrice Kanter visited with friends in Duluth over Sunday. J. D. Ireland, of Duluth, general manager of the Iron ore department of the M. A. Hanna company, left for his home Sunday after spending a couple of days in looking over the mines under his company's supervi sion. Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Cummings visited in Duluth the latter part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Merritt, for mer residents of the city but now located at Duluth, spent the Sabbath on the range. Clem. Qnlnn, chief engineer of the Interstate Iron company in this city, is visiting relatives and friends at his former home at Ishpeming, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Savage, of Cook, were in the city Saturday. Leonard Toutloif of this city, was called to Inmwood, Mich., last week On account of the death of his brotb er, Frank Toutfoff, who died in that city.o* Wednesday o( last week. Henry Sincock, who since his grad uation from the Northwestern Medi cal, Chicago, has been on the staff of the St. Joseph hospital, Chicago, arrived in the city Saturday for a brief visit before going to Odanah, Wis., where he locates in the practice of his profession. Mr. Sincock Is a product of Virginia schools, and has a host of friends in the city who are pleased to note his success and trust he may attaip to the highest point in his professional career.
