w~ ALVARADO TO HAVE CHAUTAUQUA THIS YEAR. The Acme Chautauqua- System of Des Moines will conduct a community Chautauqua in Alvarado this year, four days, June 23, 24, 25 and 26. Two pro grams will be held daily, namely at 2:45 and 7:45 p. m. A complete program for the four days will be published next week. Admission by season ticket is but little more than half single ad mission prices, and can be purchased at the Drug Store and other business places. Miss Watkins left for Minneapolis Tuesday evening, where she will spend a few days visiting friends before leav ing for her home in Wisconsin. The local ball team played a double header on the local diamond last Sun day when they played and beat the Grand Forks Stars two games The afternoon's game resulted in a score of 3 to 16, and the evening's game result ed in a score of 7 to 8. Keep the good ork up boys and keep on practising. Word has just been received from Ailsburg. Sask, Canada, that Mrs Henrj Lindberg has died there. Hei remains will be taken to Alvarado for burial. Funeral services will be held at the Elim church on Thursday, June 10th, at two o'clock, aud will be con ducted by Rev. J. Persenius, of Grand Forks. The Luidberg's were pio neer settlers north of Alvarado and moved to Canada a number of years ago. Mrs. Franz Holter and children, of Oslo, and Mrs. L. T. Rykken, of Mel stone, Montana, arrived Sunday after noon. Mrs. Holter and children will spend a week visiting friends and lela tives and Mrs. Rykken will spend about a month visiting. She has been quite poorly and came to Minnesota for her health and is now slowly improving. Quite a number of people from the village attended the silver wedding an niversary of Mr. and Mrs Kulle last Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs J. Smith and grand son visited with Mr. and Mrs. Iver Iverson at Grand Forks, returning home Monday afternoon. Miss Judith Porten, who has just finished a term of school at Roseau, re turned to her home here last week. Dr. Swensonra dentist, arrived here from Fargo -last week and will locate on Main street. Misses Olhe Porten, Ellen Pearson, Amanda Hagglund, Lena Edman and Agnes Sands arrived Saturday at their respective homes here, from Moorhead, where they are attending normal. Mrs. Peter Swanson will entertain the Ladies' Aid of the Swedish Luth eran church of Alvarado Friday, June 11th. Quite a number of Osloites attended the Grand Forks vs. Alvarado ball games here last Sunday. Mrs. Anna Bergman visited her son, John Bergman Jr. and family, a few days last week. Walter Sands had the misfortune of cutting his foot last week while chop ping down brush on his farm south of the village. He was taken to Wairen immediately, where doctors' care was given it, so he is getting allong nicely now again, and is able to be around. Mrs. Nels Markuson and daughter, Alys, spent a few days in Grand Folks last week visiting Mrs. Markuson's daughter, Mrs. Fiske and family. Dr. R. B. Swenson Dentist Alvarado, Minnesota A, W. Aure home. He was taken immediate ly into the village where Mr. Neujahr, the druggist, bandaged the bruised face. Miss Edith Dagoborg returned to her home here, having just finished a term of successful teaching in the Boxville school house. A number of people of Alvarado at tended the carnival at Grand Forks last week. VIKING Misses Hilda Larson and Myrtle An derson were Warren callers Monday of this week. Laige crowds from far and near at tended the big meetings held at the Swedish Mission church Friday, Satur day and Sunday. Reverends Liljegren, from Winnipeg, Canada Lindholm, from Teien Lundell, of Thief River Falls Segerstrom, from North Park College, Chicago, and Drotts of Viking, were the ministers who officiated at these meetings Re^. Segerstrom will remain in Viking for a couple months and teach parochial school at the pub lic school house. Last Wednesday evening, a large crowd of young people" drove over to the John Gustafson farm and gave a chauvaii for Mr. and Mrs Chas Gustafson who were married very re cently. Mis. Peter Lindquist was a Warren visitor last Wednesday. Several Vikmgites autoed to New folden one day of last week to take in the Nonpartisan lecture to be held there, but they weie disappointed as no speaker ai rived. Miss Hilda Hanson visited in Angus Sunday. Mr and Mrs. Engvid Lundgren ar rived Viking last week, where they will make their home.
