The City Attorney and Engineer sub mitted a report in the matter of the claim of J. J. Palmer for extra work on the Broad way sewer, recommending that lie be al lowed 817.50 in addition to (lie amount estimated by the City Engineer. Iteport accepted and recommendations adopted. The Engineer submitted profUe of the proposed change of grade on Fillmore Avenue, between Dakota Avenue and State street Referred to the whole Board to view premises. The Engineer submitted plan and esti mate of cost, and the following report was ordered sent to the Council, to-wit: To the Common Council of the City of St. Paul: The Board of Public Works have had under consideration the resolution or order of the ((minion Council, approved Dec. B, 1885, relative to the grading and bridging of Dueas street, from the south line of levee to Baton Avenue, and having In vestigated tlie proposed improvement, re spectfully report that said improvement is necessary and proper, from the south line of the levee to the richt of way of tlie Minnesota & Northwestern Railroad Com pany; that the estimated expense thereof MO, oik -half of which need not be paid into the City Treasury before the con tract is let; that real estate to be assessed therefor can befoond benefited to the extent of the costs and expenses neeessarj to be incurred thereby; that said improve ment is net asked for by a petition of a ma jority of the owners of property to be as sessed therefor, but we herewith send a jiluii or profile of said improvement, and an order for your adoption, if you desire us to make the improvement.
