8 ALLIANCE ELEVATORS. The Representative of a London Syndicate Talks of the Scheme. Special to the Globe. Dujmjjtii, April 26.— Duluth had an Important visit yesterday and to-day from C. S. de St. Croix representing a London syndicate which, in connection with the Farmers' alliance and Scandi navian Elevator company, proposes creating a line of elevators throughout Dakota and Minnesota and in Duluth, Minneapolis and Buffalo. The Evening Herald interviewed him on the scheme and he talked quite freely. He comes from London himself. He says London millers are enthusiastic over the pro ject, and that his trip was in their in terest. They propose a company of ■$2,000,000 capital, one-half of which will be subscribed in this country and one half in En-rland. They will make a company whose stock will be held al most entirely by millers in both countries. They propose to add to the line of Western elevators which they secured through! cessions from C. C. Wollcott & Co., by building new ones; and with new railroads into the wheat belt, will control a large line of grain. They will have elevators of 750,000 bush els capacity at Duluth and Minneapolis, and larger ones at Buffalo, so that their No 1 hard wheat can go to London with- . out mixture with cheaper grades. Mr. De St. Croix says . the company will be controlled by ten directors, rive from this country and five from England, and it will be conducted strictly on a co-op erative plan. _WBfss&_ SOUTH SnORE & ATI-ANTIC. Surveyor Glazier, of the South Shore & Atlantic railway, said to a reporter yesterday that the contractors would shortly take up the sixty miles of grad ing from Duluth to Ashland, fully ex pecting to have it finished by July 1, and the rails laid by Aug. 1. The distance from Duluth or Superior to I grace, Mich., is 405 miles; to Sault Ste. Marie 409 miles, and to New York via the Grand Trunk railway, 1,300 miles. Person with money to invest will do well to turn their attention toJDuluth and Super ior. JM. B.
