The warm weather of the past few days has been 'disagreeable for lumber men, inasmuch as the snow Is fast dis appearing in the pineries, and the roads are becoming soft. Some camps will be obliged to cease operations this evening unless the temperature turns colder. A well known logger, who re turned Wednesday from a trip to Kettle river, stated to a Globe representative yesterday that there was from eight to twelve inches of snow in the woods, but practically none in: the clearings. He denies the report that many of the camps have nearly completed a good season's work, and have fully as many loss cut and hauled as expected. Some crews are well ahead with their work, while others have not cut much over half of the amount of logs expected, ow ing to au absence of snow early in the season. — , v The employes of the electric street railway who refused to work Thursday because they had not received their Jan uary pay filed.liens on all of the com pany's property yesterday for the full amount of their claims. A separate lien was filed on the property by August Jesse, who holds a claim agaiust : the company of ■. % 101.34 for - repairing ■motors, etc. No attempt has been m'a<ie to run the cars, and will probably not be until a receiver is appointed at the instigation of the bondholders, who nave not received interest on the bonds due Dec. 1. The employes sub mitted a proposition yesterday agreeing to work providing . each day's receipts are divided, among them until their sal aries are paid. ;. '.; Russell Dailey and Adrian Barnes, two young boys who broke into Good man & Co.'s grocery ' store ;on South Fourth street Wednesday evening, were arraigned in the municipal court yester day. In the case of liarnes. Judge Nethaway suspended sentence, but Dailey returned to jail and will have a hearing next Monday. Dailey has previ ously been arrested on similar charges, and may be sent to the reform school. Senator J.S. O'Brien, David Tqzer, E. L. Hospes, members of a committee chosen for the •: purpose of petitioning congress not to take off or reduce the tariff on lumber, l«:ave this evening for Washington, D. C, accompanied by A. T.Jenks. ' ; G. H. Atwood, J. S. O'Brien, E. L. Hospes and David Tozer have been ap pointed as delegates to represent the St. Croix valley at the National Lum bermen's convention, to be held at Washington March 1, 1892. According to the books of Surveyor General Bean the total amount of logs scaled on Lake St. Croix last season will aggregate fully 325,000,000 feet The exact figures are not attainable a? yet. . ; Supt. Henderson, of the Minneapolis police force, accompanied by F. A. Pride, of Minneapolis, were guests of Chief of Police Hhortall yesterday. Deputy Grand Commander Holt, of the Knights Templar, visited Bayard commandry last evening. " — — CLEARANCE TABLE. Increase : Continues to Greatly Overbalance Decrease.
