Apflatroplj? to X\\t ffro-fflatltrfiral (From the address of Most Reverend Archbishop Ireland at the Civic Dedication, November 2, 1913.) "Noble Edifice, whose name is the Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, of Minneapolis, thou art to be 'the house of God, the gateway of Heaven,' the home among men of God's supernal world, where men will come to God, to praise Him, to worship Him, to give glory to His mercy and His truth, where God will come to men to pour out upon them the sweetness of His love, the richness of His grace, to upbuild within them His own image and likeness. "This is why, Noble Edifice, we bid thee a triumphant entrance into our fair city of Minneapolis—this is why we acclaim thy advent in joyousness and exultation. Thou comest to us the tabernacle of the living God. "Long reign thou, Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, to bring God nearer to men, to bring men nearer to God—to do thy share in bestowing upon us what is far more precious, far more needed for peace and felicity than copious gifts of earthly wealth, than beauteous adornment of earthly arts— the guardianship in time and in eternity of the Eternal and Almighty God."
