Ordered that C. H. Punston be appointed to superintend the erection of a court house for Bar ry county and that he be required to enter into a contract with Bar ry county for his performance of all duties with a bond of $500.00. Motion to spread the order cn record. Result of vote as fol lows: P. B. O'Dwyer, yes; R. H. Elam, yes; Thos. F. Montgomery, no. C. H. Funston being duly sworn upon his oath to perform all duties as superintendent of a court house for Barry county en ters into the following contract for compensation for his services. For the plans of said building and the estimates thereon 3i per cent, estimated on. the contract price of said building. The amount shall be due and paid as follows: 75 per cent of said amount to be paid to the archi tect when a legal contract is en tered into and let on said plans and a good and sufficient bond is given by the contractors for the erecting of said building, and the remaining 75 per cent of said amount to be held as an insur ance that all needful working de tails shall be furnished by the architect, if anything of that kind Via nosHpil whirh to complete r 1 the building; and as soon as it is determined by the superinten dent, contractor and county court ! . that such working details are complete, then said 25 per cent shall be due and payable to arch itect. It is further ordered by the court that Mr. Funston shall receive as his compensations for superintending the erection of the building and other matters -relating to its construction $100 per month. It is further ordered that the superintendent shall prepare and submit to the court plans of the court house at as early a date as is practicable, showing the dimensions, material of which it is to be composed, with an estimate of probable cost not to exceed the sum of $48,500. Ordered that the clerk of the county court advertise for bids for the county medical practice, bids to be opened at noon Tues dayrMarch 4, 1913. MUSIC CLUB The Music Club met with Mrs. Oscar R. White, Monday afternoon,- owing to illness fn the home of Mrs. Wirt Patterson. The meeting was opened by the Club singing the Russian National Anthem. . Mrs. Chas. F. Davis conducted the Quiz. After a brief time spent in the study of the life of the Russian composer Antpn Rubenstein, the following program was rendered: PianoSolo, Miniature Moszkowki, Mrs. Fred Fesler. Mrs.Mp,udFlippin,of St. Louis is expected this week on a visit to her sister, Mrs. J. M. Clayton. -High School Inspector Ellis, of Columbia, was a visitor of our high school Tuesday. ' HOUSEHOLD SHOWER Mr, and Mrs. Amon Hagler were showered with' a beautiful collection'' of .household Articles by their friends on Tuesday evening. The event was a surprise to the newly wedded couple and was all the more enjoyable on that account. A large number were present and left a variety of beautiful and useful articks. MISSIONARY SOCIETY ORGANIZED ' The ladies of the Christian church met on Tuesday and organized the Christian Woman's Board of Missions. The officers ot the society are Mr. E.T. Bal lard president: Mrs. J. M. Clay ton vice president; Mrs, M. C. Goodwin, secretary and Mrs. John Counts, treasurer. COUNCIL MEETING Council met Tuesday night and allowed the usual bills. Another ordinance, consolidat ing the electric light and water works plants was presented by the mayor but was not passed. The city clerk was instructed to ascertain where an expert ac countant could be secured to audit the city's books and re port. . MISS KATE O'BRIEN DEAD MissKatie O'Brien died Wed nesday morning, February 13 at 3:45 o'clock at the home of her uncle. E. A. O'Dwyer. She was twenty-seven years of age. A funeral service will be held at the O'Dwyer home Friday morning and the funeral party will then goto Peirce City, where the regular service will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic church at 10:30 o'clock. The deceased is the the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike O' Brien, of Peirce City. She was for a number of years bookkeep er at Newman's store at Peirce City. Her health failed and she came to Monett the first of the year to visit her uncle and fam ily. While here she became se riously ill and was unable to re turn home. Suit for $30,000 damages has been filed in the Bentonville Cir cuit C6urt against theJFrisco by George Riddle, through his attor ney C. A. Fuller. While firing between Fort Smith and Monett last summer, Mr. Riddle was in a headon collision at Brentwood and his left leg broken, his head cut, other injuries sustained. He was in the hospital three months, suffering terribly much of the time, and he seeks to recover for all the time lost and injuries re ceived. Eureka Springs Times Echo. . AGED MAN DIES Ernest G. Felwock died at his home at Freistatt at 11 o'clock Tuesday February 11. He was 82 years old. His death was caused by bronchial pneumonia. Vernon Monday and operated on Tuesday at 11 o'clock for an absess. She stood the operation very well and some hope for her recovery now is entained. Rev. and Mrs. G. W. Quails dined with Mr. and Mrs. Will Davis Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cox and Mr. Beckett, Miss Nelle How ard, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Howard and mother spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Anderson and family. Mrs. Anna Means is suffering from severe burns which she re ceived Friday while quilting near a stove, her apron caught tire, j her burns are very painful. Miss Addah Longley spent Saturday night and Sunday with Misses Beulah and (Kate Math ews. Mrs. Troy Beckett and Miss Elma Whaley spent Tuesday in Monett with Mr. and Mis. G. W. Weygandt. Mrs. Laura Cox and daughter Vera called on Mrs. Jno. Means, Tuesday evening. Mr. Frank Hunnell who has been in failing health for several years, still it was a shock to his friends and neighbors when the message was delivered over the telephone Wednesday that he had passed away. His funeral was Thursday morniDg at the residence conducted bv Rev. Elba Stribling of Kings Prairie, and interment was made at Stotts City beside their daughter who died in infancy. Mrs. Hunnell has the sympathy of all, in her great affliction. The Mt. Vernon Quartet is ex pected at Liberty Wednesday night. 15 cents admission. At a depth of fifteen feet he struck some fine specimens of red silicate. He expects to continue pros pecting and hopes to make a rich find of mineral. CROUCH DEAD Died at his home a mile north west of Oak Ridge school house at 4 o'clock Saturday evening, Rev. W. H. Crouch, of heart di sease, aged nearly 62 years. He came here from Oklahoma about two years ago and bought a part of the Mills place east of Spout spring. He had been a minister for several years but owing to his disease he had of late years not preached so much. He lost his house and all its contents aoout the 20th of November 1912 and his worrying is thought to have aggravated the disease and shortened his life. He leaves a wife and six children.
