LAUNDRY Killed By Man at Whose Ranch Near Thayer He Was Spend ing Night. West Plains, Mo., Sept. 2. Will Hilton, a well known farmer who resided a few miles south east of Koshkonong, was murder ed at Thayer last night shortly before 11 o'clock. Lee Cousins, a well known' stock dealer of Thayer, with two of his hired men, is being held by the Oregon county authorities in connection with the crime. The most wild and varied re ports of the tragedy have been current today and authoritive de tails cannot be secured until the coroner's jury completes its io vestigations. Hilton was at Cousins' ranch two miles northeast of Thayer, and was shot with a double barrel shotgun while lying in bed. The shooting was done by Cousins. The two hired men are said to have been present when the shooting occurred. The lower part of Hilton's face was practically shot off and death was instantaneous. The murdered man who was thirty-five years old, is survived by a widow and two small chil dren. Cousins is about forty years of age and also has a fam ily. The purchase price was $3,600.00 cash. We were misinformed yester day in regard to the death of Willie Long, of Peirce City. F, McCormick of San Antonio superintendent of the Palomas Land and Cattle company o Chihuahua, is, held prisoner by the Castillo band of Mexican freebooters for a ransom of $10, 000. This is the second time he has been held for ransom. Dur ing the Orozco revolution he was forced to pay $5,000 for his liberty. A minister says there will be no baseball in Heaven.
