SOLDIER AND SAILOR
INSURANCE
The soldiers' and sailors' war in
surance bill, the first step in Govern
ment insurance, and what is pronounc
ed the most generous effort 'on the
part of any nation to care for the de
pendents of its fighting men, was
passed by the lower House of Con
gress Thursday night, September 13,
by a vote of 319 to nothing.
The bills as passed by the House
follows almost exactly the lines laid
down in the plan of Army insurance

son and presented to Congress for ac

The press of the country seems to
think that the unanimous approval ;
given to the bill by the lower House (
of Congress is thoroughly representa- j
tive of the feeling of the whole coun-:
try. I
Secretary McAHoo's comment was
as follows:
"The unanimous passage by the
House of Representatives of the bill ;
for the compensation and insurance of ;
our soldiers and sailors is a distinct
triumph for justice and humanity. It ;
is the most conspicuous and 'advanced j
step ever taken by any nation for the ;
protection of its soldiers and sailors ,
and their depentents. The prompt
passage of this bill by the Senate will
satisfy the heart and conscience of up- :
lifted America." !

BEFORE EXEMPTION BOARD
Following is the last of 200 young
men 'called by the Barry County Ex
emption board for examination this
week. The fi,rst hundred will be ex
amined ' Wednesday and the others
Thursday. Barry county has not yet
reached its quota of 178 men, but the
necessary number will probably be se
cured from this list.

The State of Missouri, to the above
Named defendants, Greetings:
You are hereby notified that an ac
tion has been commenced against you
in the circuit court of the County of
Barry, in the State of Missouri, for
the purpose of foreclosing the lien of
the City of Monett, .Missouri, for de
linquent taxes for the years of 1914
and 1915, assessed against the fol
lowing described real estate to-wit:
Lot Number Seven (7), in Block
Number Sixteen (16), in the original
Townsite of Monett, Missouri, and
plaintiff further states that the above
named defendants are non-residents of
the State of Missouri, so that the or
dinary process1 of law cannot be serv
ed upon them in this State, which said
action is returnable on the first day
of the next term of said court, to be
begun and held at the court house in
the city of Cassville, in the County of
Barry, and State of Missouri, on the
12th day of November lext, when and
where you may appear to defend such
action; otherwise plaintiff's petition
will be taken as confessed and judg
ment rendered accordingly. ,

copy hereof be publishel, according to
law, in the Monett Times, a wekely
