WHERE IS THE PROFIT? What shall it profit a man If he earns big wages but saves none of it 7 If he gets money only to let it toaster him? If his pay envelope be fat and the paying of debts makes it flat? If he hides his money under his' , pillow and is robbed of all he has raved? If he builds an imposing financial ttructure and fails to put a protecting roof over it? If opportunity knocks at his door ., Jrtid he has no money saved to accept Vx herinvitaVion ? If he gains the only woman in the .Jworld and ha? no fcafe financial pros- '"ptctslo offer her? , If he gains a fortune and loses tie vision of usefulness and responsi bility; which it entails? If he lays by a fortune for his Children and fails to see that they are trained in. thrift? Exchaifge. Good times, bad times, indifferent times all pass over; those who best weeeed in life take all chances and changes like men, wear smiles, are hopeful and cheerful, knowing that 'th wheel of fortune is ever revolving 6ri Way or the ' other. Business Printer. CHAMBERLAIN'S COUGH REMEDY NOTHING SO GOOD - FOR A COUGH ,OR COLD "Everyone who has used Chamber lain's Cough Remedy speaks well of It," Writes Edward P. Miller, Abbotts town, Pa. People who once use this preparation are seldom satisfied with Uty other. t It is excellent to allay a tough or break up a cold. M1CKIE, THE PRINTER'S DEVIL I -The carnival interest is increasing not only in the high school but among the town folks as well. The work is divided among the teachers, who will use as many students as they need to make their department a success. The carnival queen contest will close to day at one o'clock. The indications are that there will be a close race be tween the classes. For the laRt 6 days the keynote lias been "work for the queen," and for the next four days the keynote will be "work for the carnival." Th teachers at the heads of their departments must get actors costumes, ticket sellers, other proper ties (than costumes not ticket sel lers, of course, teach their actors, and last but not least report anything they can't handle to Mr, Galbraith who is general manager and G. M. of P. (Grand Marshal of the Parade.) The ! parade this year will outdo anytning ever attempted by the high school, even the parade last year, which was fully four blocks long. Mr. Holestinea agriculture class is receiving a practical lesson in graft ing and spraying fruit trees this morn ing. Dr. Russell owns the trees. This is but an example of the superior faith and trust the townspeople have in the high school pupils. For instance who would let a doctor, who has little or no experience, graft a toe or nose on them. Separate assemblies were held Fri day. Mr. Galbraith spoke to the boys His subject was "Our Inheritance." Not many inherit much money but all receive a good physique, mental and moral qualities and a good name. The boys were greatly interested in lr. Galbraith's talk. Milton Reynaud, the recently elected track captain, spoke on the advantages of athletics to a person. He urged every boy to come out to help make a winning track team this year. At the same time Miss Reba Wardens, assistant secre tary of the Joplin Y. W. C. A. spoke to the girls. The girls were very en thusiastic over the possibilities pre sented by Mss Wardens for increased interest in a girls organization. Miss Wardens organized the Girl Reserves, which corresponds closely to the Hi-Y the boys organization. ENTERTAINS EIGHTH GRADE OF BELLVIEW SCHOOL Mrs. Delia Largen Brite, of North Third street, entertained her eighth grade of Bellview school Saturday afternoon from 2:30 to 5:30. The afternoon was very pleasantly spent in music and various games. A two course lunch was served to the following members of the grade: Misses Wilma Mulkey, Jewell Wilks, Opal McCormack, Edna Jackson, Gladys Jenkins, Effie Tate, Verna Mulkey, Ethel Oswalt, Messrs. Luther Ethridge, and James Fieker. Miss Grace Breeden, Miss Blanche' Blakes lee and Mrs. J. E. Brendlinger were guests. 1 THE PNEUMONIA MONTH March is a typical pneumonia month and usually gives a high rate of mortality for the disease. After a long and hard winter, the system loses much of its resistance and peo ple gwY careless, When every cold, nd matter how slight, is given prompt and intelligent attention, theie is much less danger of pneumonia. It should be borne in mind that pneu monja is a germ disease and breeds in the throat. Chamberlain's Cough Remedy is an expectorant and cleans out the germ ladened mucus and not only cures a cold but prevents its re sulting in pneumonia. It is pleasant to take. Children take it willingly. DO YOU KNOW? Fifth-five cents buys 2xh pounds of pure honey at Saxe's Market. Phone 112. 10t6 Go to J. U. Vermillion lor feed and jay. 59tm Miss Theo.
