The electrical storm of last Thurs day night was the worst in the memory of the oldest people. The heavens ablaze with continual flashes of lightning, constant thun dering and roaring and heavy rain and very little wind. The writer has been informed by a gentleman who has traveled that the storm was like tropical sto-rms of the West Indies. Ed Bohon's barn burnt near Nelsonville. C. M. Cearfoss barn burnt near Warren. Ed Peper barn burnt near Andrew Chapel. Mr. Peper was asleep and did not know bis barn was burning until aroused by one of his neigh bors, Ike Longacre. -Everything burnt hay, grain, wagon, buggy, on ly saved one halter, but was fortu nate in having good insurance. News received that a barn and 10 head of horses burned up in the Al ison neighborhood north of Heather. Burned one hay stack for Mr. Dowl ing', 1 hay stack for Bird Hawkins. Lightning also struck Mrs. Zigers ice house but did no damage. Ben Parson has returned home from Colorado where he has been in the interest of his health. Mrs. Porter Ragland, of Dodge City, Kansas has been visiting friends in this neighborhood. George Sowers and wife, of Han- Attend the Monroe City Fair, Ca;l at Farmers & Merchants Bank: Harry Norman of the St. Louis Republic, came up Monday to visit his mother. Mrs. Mary -Norman, and to attend the Candidates pic nic at Indian Creek. Harry has many friends here who are always glad to give him the glad hand of welcome. Dr. G. Moore of St. Louis, was in the city Monday and he and Dr. J. N. Southern of this city . in con sultation with Dr. W. B. A. McNutt in the J. T. Umstattd case and they agreed with Dr. McNutt that the stomach trouble was of a cancerous nature. Beaatiful Costumes.
