Mrs. George Norris and her two daughters were in a runaway, Tues day of last week, that they will likely remember for a while. They were in the family carriage, near Ary Mclntyre's. George Gelvin had passed them in his auto, and gone some distance beyond, when on look ing back he noticed there was some trouble. From some cause they took a notion to behave badly and run away. Mrs. Norris and daughters jumped out, and the girls escaped in jury, but Mrs. Norris was badly bruised about the head and shoulders. Proud was in Kansas City, Thursday last attending a meet ing of the alumni of the University Medical College. He enjoyed hear ing many lectures from some of the ablest physicians and surgeons of the country, and enjoyed meeting many of his class of 15 years ago. County Surveyor Peret has been devoting a few days the past week surveying the old river bed between Mike May's and W. F. Davis's lands, lying between Missouri and Kansas, in order to get the center line of the Missouri xiver. The land is north and west of Forest City. While everybody is talking about Hal ley's comet, sight has been lost of the fact that there will be a total eclipse of the moon, visible to all ob servers in the United States, the night of May 23d. The moon will enter the shadow of the earth at 9:45 o'clock, it will become wholly im mersed in the shadow and the eclipse become total at 11:09 o'clock.
