The answer of the Brown comity, Kansas, school teacher and his pre vious director to the problem about Ann's age, were both wrong and I am glad of it. I am not glad tbey got the wrong amwer, but glad sbeir answers were wrong. Now I wsll proceed to show how old Ann is, I will first state the problem and then solve it- Mary is 24 years old. Mary was J twice as old as Ann was at the time Mary was as old as Ann- is now How old is Ann now? For the sake of brevity. 1 will distinguish their ages at tiie different . " 6 11IIJVS BIIU LOC9CUI . r . solution Since Ann 1 first age was one half Mary's first age, and Mary's first age is Ann,s present age, Ann's first would have to be added to both their first ages to make their present ages. Therefore Mary's present age is three times Ana's first age. 24 divided by 3 equals a timei 3 equals 16, Ann's age. E. C. Carmen Story of San Antouio.
