The county eourt hag been In session for sev eral days in preparation of ap pointing the supervisors ol the various road districts, election boards ot the election precincts, and making out the Jury list for the ensuing term. Yesterday they granted a new road district num ber 25, taking parts ot Nos. 8, 11, 12 and 20. This Is a section of the country west ot Monmouth and O. Newton was appointed pa trolman for that road district. In compliance with the state law malting it mandatory that each county have a herd inspect or H. G. Petersen, veterinarian of Dallas, was appointed meat and herd Inspector for the county, By an order of the court $1061.65 was transferred from special road d'etrict No. 14 to road district No. 14, ' .. The court further ordered that the election precincts be reduced In number and there was for merly four elective precincts In Fails City, designated as north east, southeast, northwest and outhwest and Black Rock pre elnctB, which was just west of Palls City, they have reduced the five to two election precincts. North Falls City will now be what was formerly known as Black Ilockk, northwest and northeast Falls City. South Falls City here after will include southeast and outhwest Falls City precincts, cut ting the number of election pre cincts In the county to 34. The river that rung through Fails City will be the dividing line. .In preparing the 200 names to serve as Jurors for the ensuing term they chose 150 men and 50 women, and for the first time in Polk county women will be per mitted to serve on the Jury as drawn during the April term of eourt. An order was entered granting M. C. Petersen ot Buell, a dance hall permit. , The county Judge also signed an order committing Anna Hel sey, aged 69, to the state hospital. Bhe has been living alone for a good many years In a little bouse close to the Standard Oil Co.'s plant. For some time she has been sick and her surrounding condi tions have been such that recent ly gome of the citizens had her removed to the Dallas hospital, but her mental condition Is such that It was necessary to have her committed to the state hospital. The highway department has for some time bad in mind a move looking to the removal of rural mail boxes from their present lo cations within easy reach of the pavement. This situation, It is claimed, results In numerous acci dents, both to the mall boxes and to automobiles which strike the boxes in skirting the edge of the pavement. Disclaiming any jurisdiction over public roads the postmaster general pointg out that close co operation between the postoffice department and highway officials Is essential to the success of the rural mall delivery By at em. Resolutions of dissolution were filed by The Wellington company of Portland. Withdrawal of Troops Blow To Irish Business London, Jan. 14. (By Associ ated Press.) Districts In Ireland which benefitted financially from the presence of British troops are expressing something like con sternation at their withdrawal, ac cording to the Morning Post's Dublin correspondent. The inhabitants ot the military centers have sent letters to Dublin and even to the British govern ment, asking retention of the troops, whose expenditure of their entire pay in Ireland meant im portant trade and employment of a number ot the natives.
