But it is you who are proud too proud to - think you require any care to look nice.- You hare an idea you look well enough at any rate. So you just make yourself as rough and coarse as . ever you can, by way ot being independent Your bands grow, as stiff and hard as if you held . a plow and swung a scythe, and when you take a aexlle you ban scarcely feel it in you fingers. ! This is wrong. There are many things which wo men ought to do which require their hands to be soft and pliable, and they should be careful to keep them sr in order to make them useful. Erery woman who lives in the country should knit herself a pair of woolen gloves, with long fingers rclosed at . the tops no mit, to let the fingers get hard.' 'There should be a piece of ribbed work at tue wnst to make them stay on. . When you use your hoe, rake or broom, put on yur gloves when you take hold of a skillet, pot or kettle handle, take a cloth to keep your hands trom being seared and hardened. VV ben you wash clolhes or dishes, do not have water, so hot as to feel unpleasant Many girls sculd their hands un til they can put them into water almost boiling. Such hands are unfit to use a needle or pin. They - are not so good to noia a Daoy or dress a wound. Take -care of your hands, and do not forget your faces. I have sien so many country girls who, at ' 16, had complexions like alabaster, and at 28 then faces would look like a mnnet bag that had hung six weeks in the chimney corner. One reason of this is, they do not wear a bonnet to protect them from the -sun.- Another reason is the habit they have of baking their faces before a wood fire. I - tare seen women stand before a great roasting fire : and cook, until I thought their brains were as well stewed as: the chickens; and they would make no! attempt to shield their heads from tbe neat flay - they would sit down in th? evening and bake their . fiteea by the hour; and this la one of the reasons why American women grow old, withered and wrin kled, is years before their time, '; ' But another and the greatest reason is, your diet People in this country jive too well, and eat too much hot bread and meat Country people usu ally eat richer, food than those who live in cities, and that is a reason why with all their fresh air, tneir average age is little greater than that of city "folks. -Thousands of beautiful blooming country girls, make oui, sallow-taced women ot themselves before thiy are 30, by drinking coffee, smoking to bacco, and eating hot bread. They shorten their lives by these practices about as much as citv la dies with their fashionable follies. I do not know what you think about it, girls, but I think it is about as much a sin for women to get old, brown, withered faces, by eating too much, as it is for men to get red noses by drinking too much. V ery few people think it a disgrace to have a bilious fever; but I would as leave the doctor would tell me that I was drunk as that I was bilious. The one would : come from drinking too much the other from eat ing too much ; and where is the difference? All this is a very serious matter, for it effects health and life and the reasOBrfwiiy I talk about complexion in" speaking of it, id vcrv body loves to look " well whether thej liTlgeit or not Now ' peoplJPcannot look wPrftrmess(J''"j are well ; and no 6nepari't be Veil very long wfio does not take care f herself. "The woman who roasts her head at the fire, disorders her blood, brings on headaches injures her health, and makes her face look like a piece of leather; when she swallows her hot coffee, greasy victuals and strong pickles, she destroys her stomach, rots her teeth, shortens - her life, and makes herself too ugly for any use, except scaring the cows off the corn. ' J. G. S. iA. One .Whbeled Gasriage ?-Th e Horse In bid. We leam from the Cleveland Herald that a new and very novel invention called a one wheeled coaeh, has recently been tried with success out : West, and promises to be of much value, especially on prairies, or wherever the sniface of the ground is tolerably level , The vehicle consists of a lanje hollow wo-xlen wheel, fourteen feet in diameter and and -six feet wide. The horses are placed inside, and propel it along in the same manner that a cag ed squirrel makes its wheel to revolve. Slats are nailed on the inside floor of the wheel, by which the horses obtain a foot hold. In the center is a small iron shaft, from which depend hangers which sup port! comfortable sofas for passengers ; the wheel thus resolves freely, the seats remaiag in perfect equilibrium. " The arrangement for guidmgthe car riage is very simple and effectife; it can make a much shorter turn than a starre coach. A 'ery successful trial of one of these carriages waS recently made, on the State road between Ca ll tl Dover and New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas Co., OQio, wmcn perfectly demonstrated their utility in transporting very heavy loads with ease and rapidity. The carriage was filled by twenty-four ladies and rrtretoftn, with two heavy draught horses.previous Jy trained to propel them. The distance between the. two places, live miles, was performed in 28 min- i vtes.on the first trip, and 23 minutes on the see-! ond. ' . The ljorsrs are notconnned by harness, and as.they travel as it were, on an endless plank road, their work is comparatively easy. j s ,-. Dayton Journal. f ' 3? It is upon the principle of inseusible perspiration, asex hiblted iu this cut, that the human body delivers itself of impurities and disease. " 1 he blood being tbe lite ol th flesh" according to the scriptures, it must be kept pure to insure health. . This it does by itsown heat and action throujrh the system, elaborating all impurity, and cast ing off all its worn out particles, which are carried out of the system, through the pores of the skin. When, how ever, the skin becomes locked up from suddeu chajigei of weather, or auv undue application of cold, all the hu mors, and virulent panicles of the blood are retained with. in, and sickness and death must follow. All the long catalogue of diseases are the result. We have under such circumstances, discovered a remedy that will open the pores aud assist the body to cast off any offending humor. It is M'ALLISTER'S ALL-HEALING OINTMENT OR THE WORLD'S SALVE. It opens those avenues thronch which nature carries offihe impurities withiu, and thus relieves the body of disease. McCallister's All Healing Ointment restores perspira tion cures Consumption, fevers, Scrofula, Erysipelas, Aeth ma, Salt Rheum, Sick Headache, Quinsy Sore Throat Rheumatism, Scald Head, Pains in the chest, side and back; Uvspepsia, r olsons, sore .Breast, Deafness, Cuta neous eruptions, sore Eyes, Inllamotion of the bowels Kidneys and Brain, Burns, Chiblains and Piles, Worms Agues, coin reel, Liver Complaint, Ulcers, and all te ver sores, innamation of every kind. It is by acting upon this principle that it is proved !o be one of the most extraordinary medicines the world ever saw. Its success in curing disease is altogether unprece dented in the annals of Medical tunsprudence. This we might demonstrate by the publication of thou sands of certifrcates from individuals of high standingin all parts of the United States, who have expeptenced its astonishing etucacy in the healing or the most afflicting maladies to which mankind is subject. But we appeal to a candid and enlightened public, and only ask that the numerous cures which are being enected bv this Unit ment wherever it has been used may secure for it that reputation which it merits that due attention be paid to the directions contained in the envellopes in which the boxes of Ointment are enclosed, as well as the Cmcu Labs in the hands of our Agents.
