Success of Mrs. Laura A. Hamilton. The appointment of Mrs. Laura A. Hamilton to the position of postmaster at Fort Ethan Alien, Vt.. in July was made solely upon her merit. Two white nwi were her competitors. Mrs. Hamilton passed a creditable civil serv ice examination and is the only Afro- American ever appointed to a similar position In the state.
