Judicial councillor of the high court
of Bavaria, Herr Adolf Eppstein, has
been appointed member of the royal
criminal court at Munich. This is the
highest rank in the magistracy that a
Jew has attained in Germany.
The Alliance Israelite has established
in Morocco eight, schools where Jewish
children receive religious and secular in
struction. The scholls are located in the
most thickly populated towns and give
instruction to 2,316 boys and girls.
The Krakauer Noprozow reports that
secret documents were issued to the mil
itary officials in the Far East, which for
bid any letters written in Yiddish to be
passed through the mails. The same or
ders also enjoin that the person of each
Jewish soldier shall he thoroughly
searched for secret papers or documents.
During the Austrian swimming con
test, which took place on the Donau on

Two rabbinical conferences took place
last month in Germany, one in Cologne

the best way in which to comply with the
late government laws as regards mar
riage and divorce without transgressing
the Mosaic code.

cently taken the initiative in the for
mation of the grand lodge of Free Ma
sons in Queensland, and in recognition
of his labors he has been elected provin
cial grand master.
The Odessa committee of the “Cliowei
Zion” received news from Palestine
which states that this year’s crop of Pal
estine has been a complete failure. The
drouth destroyed the fruits and the field
mice the wheat. The Zionist circles, on
the other hand, claim that everything in
the colonies is fine and a rich harvest is
expected. Evidently, somebody is fool
ing the public.
The Brussels correspondent of the
Daily Telegraph sent the following tele
