Stewart, of Colorado Springe, the j original Repuhlicnn nominee for Governor re fused to run on the tin me ticket with Gabbert. This Wat because (iabbnrt is known an one of tlie Corporation's most plastic tools nnd obedi ent Judges of the Supreme Court, whose recent decision in favor of DISHONEST ELECTIONS ill Colorado, well illustrates this point. Chan cellor Ruchtel, who is running in Stewart's tdnee j ia said to Im heartily in favor of a Primary Law, u Railroad Commission, nnd other things that | are supposed to be in favor of the people. Alva I Adams campaign is expreoaed best bj* William Jeiining'n Bryan, when lie said: *’AI/» Adams | has a peculiar claim on Colorado citizens Is-- ciius4' of bis being robbed of his wat two years 'ago." lien Lindsey is our choice for Governor, because be is in favor of enadiug Colorado laws | I that will protect our boys nnd girls—Colorado's j citizens of tomorrow. And Den Lindsey lias , proven his sincerity through his UJiucr Juve nille Court work. Inasmuch as there tire two candidates on ' each ticket, in other words, two judges to bo j elected, it becomes nncesonry to call your at- ! I tenlion to the fact that if n Republican should , vote his party ticket aud then scratch for either j Judge Bonnet or Mr. Ann is by placing a cross; opposite the name of one or the other of theao j men, that cross would not count unless he J would scratch out the name of one of the candi dates for judge on the Republican ticket. This j is a law that is nut well understood, hut never- ! j theless it exists iu our statutes, and however I l harsh it may seem, it must bo followed by the j I election judges, so be sure to explain to any , J [icrsons whom you may hi- able to piirsiiade to scratch the Republican ticket nnd vote for one j or either of our Judicial candidates, to scratch | out the name of the Republican candidate whom • | they do not wish to vote for. Kiudly make it your business to ace that this is clearly under-| stood, beenubo wo expect thnt there will be considerable scratching ou the Repuhlicnn ticket for Democratic judges and we do not want to lose a rote intended for a Democratic candidate simply because thu voter does not kuow that bn has to designate which ouo of the Republicans he is cutting out of his built/* - . .. Your Vote For Sheriff. Voters thron«hout North Park und in fact nil ! Larimer county, are being importuned unch day ■ to cant their votes for Sheriff Mci’roery for variou* reasons. The principal reason ia that “Jim bus made a good officer and this is the last time he will coine up.” In thin reaped, the Union, without desiring to appear sacrilegious, would suggest that if for j no other reason, the North Parkers have cause ; sufficient to have u real Thanksgiving. We can see no good argument for giviug McCroi ry "just one more vote.” Larimer county has not adopted Mr. Mc- Creary, though from the way he has fed ou the political pap for a good many yoars. it would at first appear so. The present incumbout of the sheriff’s office is, strictly speaking, so far gone, that he will never really he satisfied un less the people repudiate his mania for office seeking at the polls. It is time to do it now. Why,.pray tell, do wo continuo to keep one man on “oasy street” all his life. Probnbly Mr. McCreory lias "been n gool offi cer." Not too careful, we might suggest in keeping his office expenses low. Ho has made sovernl Ipng trips—some of which have resulted in only problematical good and others where the pimple pay tho hill apparently for a pleasure trip. There are plenty or such cases that are a mutter of record. The Union asks tho voters of North Pork to consider tho coming election carefully. Mr. 8. H. Garritsoa, a well known farmer, of Loveland, is seeking the office on the Democratic ticket. Mr. Gnrritson dims not pose ns n sleuth und he has no long string of “desperate captures” to i refer hack to. His record is clean uud lie will fill tho offico ns efficiently ns Mr. McCreory has ever ilonu in the ,-overal years ho haw been in Larimer county public life. We ought not go on forever voting for one man to fill this and that office nlways. Mr. McCroery is a clever nnd persistent politician and has pulled the wires successfully to socure the nomination. Let us go to the polls and placo our ballots there for 8. It. (Jarritsnn for sheriff. In this way we will dispose of the as pirations of n “county gang" that have partici pated in sucking the political teat with chronic persistency. Mr. Qarritson will do the right thing—don’t let any person toll you ho won’t. Communicated. Conditions are snch, and the timo is here for voters of tho Park to show their hand. The parties who betrayed ua are again uaking our support. Shall wo give if? If there is a drop of independent blood In a Park voter, party notwithstanding, he will ropudisto Drake nud Wollaver and vote for thoir opponents, Dr. P. J McHugh and Unn. Adolf Donath. This is not a Democratic-Kepublican war in Colorado this fall. It is a battlo for rights against a concerted determination on the part of self appointed political bosses iu both par ties to hold control, for ends so vile they cry out to decency and decent peopio are calling for holp. action und iadependeuco, irrespective of ; party. Everything is up to the voter, who can I right every wrong by the proper use of his bal- I lot. Drake and Wollaver have both lined op with that dirty'mess fixed up in Denver by Speer and Evans. Their records show they be long to that mess, soul and body. We, of tbo Park, have a double reason for turning them down at the polls. Never in our history, have we had such op portunity and cause for proving our political strength. By unitup on Ken. wo shall show our appreciation Tor recognition by a Convention, and by a M* vote for McHugh and Donath, we *how we Have our interests consulted, and whan they are ruthlessly turned down by a Benedict, we ean consolidate to protect them, attd by repeating our majority for Adams, that we deplore the outrages heaped upon him aad all the poo pis by stealing his seat. We have talked Consolidation, for political action, tor years. Now is our chance to show « our hand. Reepeectfully submitted to the voters ia sen. eral, aad of the Park, especially. J. t. S3UPPEY. Vote for Annis and Bennett. We are advocating the re-elec tlon of Judge Bennett as District Judge because we consider him a very efficient man in that position. He is given credit for having ren dered some of the fairest decisions ever rendered by any Judge. His running mate, Hon. Frank J. Annis, of Fort Collins, is a man that is well known throughout Larimer county; a man that has had a good Law Practice from the people of North Park, who have received the very best of treatment from Mr. Annie, and we want you to vote for him. as against JudgeGarrigu.es be cause the latter rendered a decision causing water, that rightfully be longs to North Park, to be taken over into the Poudre Valley; some thing we have always fought against because taking North Park water across the range will prevent North Park from, in time, gaining the pop ulation that it'otherwise would. Mr. Annis has a large circle of acquaintances who know him to be thoroughly upright, honest and capa ble. By casting your vote for him you will express your sentiments against Judge Garrigues. who upon a petition from the North Park ditch owners appointed a Referree to adjudicate the water rights from the different streams of North Park, viz: A lawyer] as against a I North Park man that was thorough ly acquainted with the water propo sition and the wishes of our people. The lawyer appointed, was at that time, associated withL. R. Rhodes, who was an attorney for the Michi gan or Grable ditch, through which ’ North Park water passes into the : Poudre Valley, greatly to the detri ment of North Park's,future, owing to the fact that there are large bod- j J ies of uplands that are being re- I claimed, and which wMI naturally re- I I quire all the water properly belong ing to North Park for the irrigation j ; thereof. While here, the Referree. regard-1 , less of the facts, that ditches had ! i been made sufficiently large, with j i the necessary amount of land under ; said ditches, that can be irrigated. : and the actual amount of water ap ; plied for taken in at the head of said ditches, and run for a long dis tance through them: cut down the application to one-fourth of what I was asked for: yet. collected court costs for the full amount of water asked. The other three fourths of ! water, thus taken, goes across the range for the benefit,of the Poudre j Valley. Is this right? We think ! your vote will say no| and this is as ’ it should be. Michigan water is now .appropri ated for 533 feet, ant witli tha ad ditional decrees ask?d for, woultf make upwards of 800 feet per sec ond of time. According to Super intendent s measure - manta, the marniuT, ,4ow taken at the bridge in Walden, season of I 1905. was about 480 feet per sec ond of time, showing that more water is appropriated than the stream will carry, and is not suffi cient. without reservoirs, to irrigate all the uplands that water will be needed for in the near future. While this controversy only af fects people on the Michigan. Illi nois and Canadian rivers; if the precedent is established, we do not know how soon some large corpora tion may appropriate and divert the waters of the Platte. Grizzly, North Fork and other streams on the West side. It behooves our people to have a man like Mr. F. J. Annis, who was one of the attorneys for the clai mants. in the last two adjudications held in Walden, on the bench be cause Vie is thoroughly posted on Water Right adjudication, having the reputation of being the best Water Right lawyer in the State. The fact that all of tha Larimer county School teachers endorse the candidacy of Miss Mary E. Gill for County Superintendent of Schools, speaks very highly in Miss Gill's favor. The School teachers are in the best position to judge her work, and this adds another laurel to the crown of Miss Gill's efficient work. A vote for Miss Gill means that the School Superintendent’s office in Larimer county will be kept up to its present high standard. North Parkers should give her a rousing majority. Not a Legal Paper. The New Era, according to the 189? Colorado Session Laws, chap ter 59, is not a legal newspaper. The law says a "weekly newspaper must have been continuously and uninterruptedly published in said county during a period of twenty six consecutive weeks prior to the first publication of said notice or legal advertiseent." The New Era was started last March, but its issues purporting to be printed on July 26, August 3rd and 10th, respectively, were all printed, at least, mailed in the Wal den postoffice August 10th. This makes that paper the same, as if it had never been, because of the in terruption in its regular publication. T. C. Ramey, the present county Treasurer, and Public Trustee, is not excusable on the plea of ignor ance of the law, and he has proven his incompetency by placing the Public Trustee Sale Notice of Jo hanna Snyder against D. E. An drews. involving the Pearl Hotel property, the sale being advertised to take place at the Fort Collins Court House, November 10th, is. thus, made absolutely null and void. Vote for D. 0. Brooks. News to You. A vote agalnet J. M. McCreary will show your disapproval against his spite work in throwing a man in jail, whose trial resulted in acquittal, instead of allowing him to furnish bonds, as the law permits. Those voting for Ben Lindsey for Governor, but who do not want to vote for the Democratic nomi nee for Congress, must scratch out Tew'sname; then, they should put' a cross opposite Robert W. Bony- i nge for Congressman. Lawson's story in the November Everybody's illustrates hew H. H. Rogers and their kind express con tempt and defiance of the people by saying that with one-tenth of the profits from a single Wall Street deal they can buy up a bunch of State Elections. It is charged that there are some Hebron voters who desire to vote against Drake and Wollaver. but that Wm. Marr carries their vote in I his vest pocket, compelling them to vote the other way. We hope the election returns, from that precinct, will demonstrate different. McClure's magazine for Novem ber tells how Clark, of Montana, spent a half a million dollars to get in the United States Senate, and it! is said SimorvGuggenheim will du- j plicate the offer with Colorado's j next Legislature. Do you wonder, at Drake and Wollaver wanting to be re-elected. We have been informed that the ' North Park Dictators and Political j Bosses of the Republican party, I have made arrangements for a lot !of free whiskey, in every North ' Park precinct, on election day, for ; the purpose of buying up Wollaver, j Drake and McCreery votes. Now, for the sake of your most Sacred \ Honor, refuse to sell your vote for a drink of whiskey. < Drake and Wollaver unseated j Ward in Boulder, helping, it is said, [to steal the Governorship from ; Alva Adams. They passed a sheep bill that levies tribute on Larimer; county sheep; voted for Corpora-, tion bills, exacting tribute from the , people, and b/oke their pledge as made to help North Park become a county, tells why the people will defeat them on election day. The election of the County Dem- j ocratic ticket will be a lesson to the Republicans to keep its Leprosy i Drake’s, Wollaver’s and McCreery's i off of the Republican ticket. V ( First class rigs of all kinds can i be secured at A. E. Butler’s barn. Chicken Dinner. A chicken dinner will be served | in the old McCallum building, where The Union office was located before the fire, on Tuesday, November 6, from 11a. m., and on, by the Lad- 1 ies’ Aid. Gome and get a good 1 dinner. Hardware Received. Just received a car of barb wire, 1 all sizes of nails and spikes, and some heating stoves at W, O. Mos man & Sons Walden Hardware store. A full line of Undertakers goods is now in stock at C. E. Mosman's, where everything that is necessary for properly preparing the remains for burial can be found. New Harness Shop.
